How our Mexican catering works in Staplers

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Everyone builds their own tacos from what’s laid out, so each plate is exactly how they like it. On the menu are burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, and it’s a good fit for birthday parties and fundraisers and school events.

For a place the size of Staplers, your own garden or drive is often the best venue: no venue hire, and nobody stuck in the kitchen. Let us know about the route to the house. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Common questions in Staplers

Could you come to a seaside event near Staplers?

Yes, with permission for the spot and firm ground for the truck or trailer. Wind, sand and seafront permissions are the main things to plan on the coast.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Paul's Church?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Send us the reception address.

Are plates and napkins included?

We confirm that with your quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we’ll talk it through.

How much space do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

What does Mexican catering cost?

The price depends on numbers, menu, service time and where your event is. Send us the details for a quote.

Can you serve in bad weather?

The truck or trailer serves in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.

What’s on the menu?

Every menu is agreed with you, with fillings such as carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria or spiced mushrooms. The sample menu shows the options.

Do you need power and water?

Let us know what’s available on site, for instance a supply from the venue, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

What we need at the venue

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch

For somewhere as remote as Staplers, early notice helps us plan the trip, the route in and power.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Catering for every guest

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains
  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Tell us what other food is being served

Rain doesn’t stop us serving from the truck or trailer, though guests need somewhere under cover to eat.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter.

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. A December event in Staplers will be in the dark from about 4:00pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve

Getting a price

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, send a quick message through our quote form.

Can I do a taco night myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

How it compares

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
