Mexican catering for South Kensington events

Mexican catering in South Kensington, served fresh

Need taco catering in South Kensington? Few things get guests chatting like a build-your-own taco bar. Everyone builds their own tacos from what’s laid out, so nobody ends up with something they do not want. It works well for summer garden parties and family gatherings and christenings, with fresh salsas and guacamole, tacos and a build-your-own taco bar.

Around South Kensington, parking and loading are the main things to plan for a truck or trailer. Narrow streets and permit bays decide where we can stop, so tell us about a driveway, a courtyard or whether a parking suspension is needed when you ask for a quote. All of Greater London, South Kensington included, is inside the ULEZ. You’ll know what’s included before you book: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

Questions to ask before booking

Common questions in South Kensington

Is parking a problem for events in South Kensington?

That depends on the street. A drive, a courtyard or a bay suspended by the council can all work, so tell us what’s outside your venue. The ULEZ covers all of Greater London.

What’s the nearest station to South Kensington for guests?

Guests can use West Brompton station, about 0.8 miles west of South Kensington.

When do you arrive?

We arrive in good time to set up before service. The length of service is agreed when you book, along with pack-down.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes, we can. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will plan the menu around them.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar.

How many guests can you serve?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but our truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. For anything outside that, ask us.

Do you need power and water?

It depends on the event and the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Let us know whether there’s a supply near where we will park.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.

The process

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. We are ready to serve at the agreed time, planned around your event. Daylight in South Kensington runs to about 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. If your event carries on later, tell us what lighting the venue has.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

How to prepare

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, most diets are easy. We suggest:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains
  • Plan a vegan filling as well as a vegetarian one

Food is served from the hatch, order by order, so everything goes out hot.

Add our Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with licensing checked with you.

Tacos

Tacos are the classic street food of Mexico. We serve them with salsas and toppings.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A burrito is a meal in one. Bowls suit guests who want to skip the tortilla.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Working with your venue

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

Planning the serving area

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle

London streets around South Kensington can be narrow and busy, and all of Greater London sits inside the ULEZ. Tell us about loading, permits and any parking suspension when you enquire.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.
