Planning an event in Play Hatch?
How the day works
It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our food truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. At midsummer, it’s light in Play Hatch until about 9:25pm, so evening drinks can be served in daylight. In late September it’s dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm, so evening bars need lighting.

About our Mexican bar hire in Play Hatch
Margaritas are the centrepiece: lime, tequila and orange liqueur, served cold, with or without a salted rim. For garden get-togethers and mexican-themed parties, we can serve soft drinks, horchata and aguas frescas for your guests.
In a rural spot like Play Hatch, drinks can be served from our food truck or trailer in a garden, field or by a marquee, as long as we can get in. Licensing for alcohol is checked with you beforehand. You will know what’s included before you book: menu, timings and any add-ons.
Comparing your options
If you are serving Mexican food, a Mexican drinks bar is the natural partner. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.

Common questions in Play Hatch
We’re having a ceremony at St Andrew's Church: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
Could you serve in Ali's Pond Local Nature Reserve?
It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.
Who clears up?
We pack down and tidy our own area after service. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.
Do you bring plates and cutlery?
Please ask us. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.
Can you cater in a back garden?
Yes, as long as there is access and a level, firm spot. Send us a photo of the access and the space, and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
How many guests can you serve?
That depends on the menu and the service time, but our truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. Tell us your numbers and we will advise.
Do you need power and water?
Tell us what the site has, for instance a supply from the venue, and we’ll confirm what we need with your quote.
Is the food very hot?
That is your choice: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.
DIY taco night versus a caterer
For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.
Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.
- Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
- Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
- Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
