Ratton Village: venues, access and licensing

Ratton Village is about 2 miles west of Eastbourne, in East Sussex. Anywhere in BN20, we can serve your guests, as long as there’s access. We serve in all 289 towns and villages across East Sussex. We cater right across the region, from Ratton Village to Brighton (about 17 miles away).

Anyone leaving the car at home will want to know that the nearest station is Hampden Park station, about 1.2 miles east. If you have your heart set on Gildrege Park, ask the people who run it about vehicles, alcohol and licensing first. With the South Downs National Park within about 5 miles, a countryside drinks reception is an option. Check how the venue handles outside bars and vehicles. The coast is within about 3 miles, close enough for drinks by the sea. Seafront spots usually need permission, especially for alcohol, and the truck or trailer needs firm ground.

For Mexican bar hire in BN20, BN21 and BN22, we plan around your venue and the route in. Streets in the area include Park Lane, Butts Lane and Ruskin Road, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. Ratton Village sits on or near the A2270, which makes travel to your event easy. For events just outside Ratton Village, we cover Hampden Park (1 mile east), Old Town (1 mile south), Eastbourne (2 miles east), Upperton (2 miles south-east) and Jevington (2 miles west). We also cater in nearby towns such as Hastings (14 miles east), Bexhill-on-Sea (10 miles north-east), Seaford (6 miles west), Lewes (12 miles north-west), Hailsham (5 miles north) and St Leonards (14 miles east).

A little further out are Filching Manor And Motor Museum (1.6 miles north-west) and Eastbourne District General Hospital (0.7 miles south-east). Open spaces near Ratton Village include Combe Hill.

  • Schools near Ratton Village include Ratton School (less than half a mile east)
  • Local pubs include The Red Lion pub (under half a mile north)

Planning the serving area

We’ll be honest if a space will not work. The main points are:

  • A flat, firm spot for the bar
  • Details of power and water on site
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What we offer

  • Soft drinks
  • Margaritas
  • Fruit aguas frescas
  • Mexican beer
  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)
  • Horchata

Step by step

The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we’ll help you choose a spot with room for a queue. Rain does not generally stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. By late September, sunset in Ratton Village comes at roughly 7:00pm, so margaritas after that will be served under lights. A late-May event keeps its daylight until about 8:50pm.

  1. Send us your date, venue, numbers and drinks ideas.
  2. We talk through licensing with you, whether that’s the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice.
  3. You get a suggested drinks menu and a quote.
  4. On the day, our bar staff serve drinks responsibly at the agreed times.
  5. After service, we clear the bar away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers

How to get a price

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Your questions about Mexican bar hire in Ratton Village

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Gildrege Park?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

Can you cater a reception after a service at The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can children have drinks from the bar?

There are always alcohol-free options, including aguas frescas and soft drinks.

How much is the bar?

We quote for each event, based on numbers, drinks and hours. For a price, send a quick message through our quote form.

What drinks do you serve?

Our bar serves margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas such as agua de jamaica and horchata.

Can you keep it mild?

It’s up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, including East Sussex. Find your area.

Do you serve responsibly?

Responsible serving comes first: under-18s get alcohol-free drinks only, and we offer water and alcohol-free choices throughout.
