About our taco bar hire in Coney Hall

The bar can stand beside our food truck or trailer, or on its own. Where a vehicle can’t reach the serving spot, we unload nearby and set the table up there, as long as the venue agrees. Popular choices include warm corn and flour tortillas, a build-your-own taco bar and slow-cooked fillings kept hot, and it suits staff parties and barn and marquee parties.

In Coney Hall, a hired hall, a courtyard or a garden without drive access can still host a taco bar. A taco bar station can be set up away from the truck, with the venue’s agreement, and the route from our parking spot to the station needs to be clear. Timings are planned around your event, whether that’s speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

How the day works

When we arrive, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. We are ready to serve at the agreed time, so everything runs to your schedule. Winter evenings in Coney Hall close in by about 3:55pm, so set the station up where the lighting is good. In late June, the light holds until around 9:20pm.

  1. Get in touch with your date and headcount.
  2. We plan fillings and toppings around your guests’ diets.
  3. We fix timings with you and the venue.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. Once service is over, we pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely

Planning help

Planners, venues and businesses

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Coney Hall questions

Where would you park in Coney Hall?

That depends on the street. A drive, a courtyard or a bay suspended by the council can all work, so tell us what’s outside your venue. The ULEZ covers all of Greater London.

Is it possible to have you in Millers Pond?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

Do you need power and water?

Let us know what’s available on site, for instance a supply from the venue, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

How much space do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. Send us a photo and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

How many guests can a taco bar serve?

It depends on the event and the timings. As a guide, our bookings usually fall around 50 to 400 guests.

Can you come to a private house?

It depends on access. If the truck or trailer can’t reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.

What’s on the menu?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings might include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

How spicy is the food?

We can keep it mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Planning the serving area

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Space beside the truck or trailer if you are booking both
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload
  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement

Coney Hall is in London, inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, which covers all of Greater London, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays, off-street space or a parking suspension.

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

What we offer

  • Two to four fillings
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Vegan fillings

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.
