How it works

When service finishes, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. In Earlstone Common, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Tell us about your event and your guests.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar menu and a quote.
  3. We check power, water and access with your venue.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. At the end, we take everything away.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Give us a contact for the day

Planning help

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Vegan fillings

Black bean and sweet potato, or spiced mushrooms, cooked separately.

Toppings

The toppings are where guests make each taco their own.

Catering for every guest

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Ask the venue where we can park to unload
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar

We warm tortillas in batches and keep the fillings hot, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

A wider range of salsas suits guests who like it mild and those who like it hot.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Parking and the route in
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • What’s on the menu
  • What the venue already provides

Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

What to tell us

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Expected numbers
  • A photo of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Where the event is

Getting a quote is simple: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will send you a clear quote and a suggested menu.

Comparing your options

Next to a hog roast or carvery, a taco bar caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free guests from one table. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Questions from Earlstone Common

Do you cater in villages like Earlstone Common?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

We are having a ceremony at Church of the Ascension: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can you serve in the rain?

Rain does not usually stop service from the truck or trailer. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. If the truck or trailer can’t reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, including West Berkshire. Find your area.

Is a taco bar right for a wedding?

The taco bar can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. Timings are agreed with you and your venue.

How does taco bar hire work?

A serving table is laid with warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and each guest builds their own. We stay to keep everything hot and stocked.

How is the food prepared?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.
