The taco bar works for a wedding breakfast, a party or a working lunch. Guests build their plates quickly, so a crowd moves through steadily, and nobody waits long. Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Step by step

We arrive in good time before service, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. Around midsummer it stays light in Egham Hythe until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with the essentials: the date, venue, headcount and diets.
  2. We suggest fillings, salsas and toppings for the bar and send a quote.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. On the day our staff lay out the bar and keep it stocked while guests build their tacos.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so where we park matters. Here’s what we look for:

  • A flat spot for the taco-bar station
  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.

What we offer

  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Vegan fillings
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Two to four fillings
  • Tortilla chips

How we price taco bar hire

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Serving staff
  • How many guests we’re serving

Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Where the event is
  • Your menu ideas

The quickest way to a quote is to send a quick message through our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will suggest a menu to suit.

Common questions in Egham Hythe

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Paul's Church?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Penton Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will help with the information they need from us.

Do you need electricity?

Let us know what’s available on site, for example a supply from the venue, and we will confirm the arrangements with your quote.

Where do you cater?

We cover London and the South East, including Surrey. See all areas.

Is a taco bar good for vegans and gluten-free guests?

There are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. Allergen information is available for every dish.

Can guests build their own tacos?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

How many guests can a taco bar serve?

Truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests, while smaller parties are looked at case by case. Tell us your numbers and we’ll plan the bar around them.

The menu, item by item

Warm tortillas

Every taco starts with a warm tortilla. We warm them as the bar needs them.

Toppings

Toppings let guests finish their tacos their way, and dairy-free choices are kept apart.

How to compare caterers

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

Buffet trays can go cold and tired. We keep the fillings hot and refill the dishes through service. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, along with extras and where your event is. Every event gets its own quote.

Why us?

  • Menus chosen with you
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch

Dietary needs and planning tips

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Ask guests with severe allergies to contact us before the day
  • Ask the venue where we can park to unload
  • Let us know about anyone who is coeliac
  • Ensure guests have somewhere to sit

Fillings are kept hot and tortillas warmed in batches, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

Extra salsas, from mild to hot, let guests choose their own heat.
