Catering for every guest

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Include a dietary question on your invitations

If speeches or timings run over, we keep the fillings hot and start when you’re ready.

Taco bar hire in Portswood, served fresh

We can serve the taco bar next to the truck or trailer, or as a separate station. Where a vehicle cannot reach the serving spot, we unload nearby and set the table up there, as long as the venue agrees. We serve fresh salsas, warm corn and flour tortillas and pickled onions and toppings, and it suits marquee parties and family celebrations.

Around Portswood, a taco bar can stand beside our truck on a drive or lawn. If the truck cannot reach the garden, we park as close as we can and set the station up where your guests are, as long as we can unload within a short walk. Your quote sets out what’s included: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

Working with your venue

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

The process

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. Guests come up to order when service opens. Around midsummer it stays light in Portswood until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan the fillings, salsas and toppings with you.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. Our staff set out the bar and guests build their own tacos.
  5. We clear the bar away after service.

Before we arrive

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in

DIY taco night or a caterer?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

FAQs for Portswood

Is Portswood close to London?

It is about 69 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Do you cater in the New Forest National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you need power and water?

That depends on the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Tell us what’s available at your venue.

Do you stay to run the taco bar?

The taco bar is served from a table or station by our staff, so your hosts do not need to. We pack it away afterwards.

Is the food very hot?

The food can be kept mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Is a taco bar right for a wedding?

A taco bar makes a relaxed, sociable wedding meal. Service is timed around speeches and photos. There is more in our taco bar guide.

Can the taco bar cater for special diets?

There are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. Every dish has allergen information.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

The difference between a taco bar and truck service is who builds the taco. From the truck, we put each order together; at the bar, guests build their own. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Why book with us

  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • A menu agreed with you
  • A plan agreed before the day
  • Catering across Southampton, including Portswood

See how we price or our guide to catering costs.

How we price taco bar hire

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • How many staff you need
  • The length of service

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Getting an accurate quote

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • The date and rough timings
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • What you’d like on the menu

To get a price, just drop us a line using the enquiry form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll put together a menu and price.
