Comparing your options

A plated wedding breakfast needs a kitchen, waiting staff and fixed courses. A taco bar needs a serving spot, somewhere close to unload and the venue’s agreement, and power and water are confirmed with each booking. Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

About our taco bar hire in Sandling

Mixed diets are simple at a taco bar, because every filling and topping sits in its own dish. There are vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free choices, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Popular choices include a build-your-own taco bar, guacamole and warm corn and flour tortillas, and it suits marquee parties and company parties.

Somewhere as small as Sandling, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. We turn up ready to serve, and tidy our own area afterwards.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Collect dietary needs with your replies
  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Put allergies in writing for us
  • Pick the spot for the taco bar in advance

Once guests have eaten, we clear the table and pack up, then load our vehicle.

Loaded nachos make a good starter while the bar is set up.

Step by step

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. Guests come up to order when service opens. Winter evenings in Sandling close in by about 3:50pm, so set the station up where the lighting is good. In late June, the light holds until around 9:15pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. Together we choose what goes on the bar.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. Our staff set out the bar and guests build their own tacos.
  5. We clear the bar away after service.

How to prepare

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in

About the menu

Warm tortillas

Corn and flour tortillas, warmed through in batches. The corn ones suit gluten-free guests.

Toppings

Lime, coriander, pickled onions, cheese and crema, agreed with you.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

FAQs for Sandling

Is Sandling close to London?

About 30 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Do you set up taco bars indoors in places like Sandling?

We can, as long as the venue agrees. The station needs room for a queue, and we need to park and unload close to the door.

Can we have a taco bar at our wedding?

It can serve the wedding meal, the evening or both. Timings are agreed with you and your venue.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will check the licensing with you.

How does a taco bar work?

A serving table is laid with warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests build their own tacos. We stay to keep everything hot and stocked.

Do you give allergen information?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

How spicy is the food?

It’s up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

What should the venue provide?

Tell us about the venue and the spot you have in mind, and we will check it works. We also need the venue’s permission.

Planners, venues and businesses

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

What we need at the venue

If a space is not suitable, we will tell you, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • A clear area in front of the station
  • A sheltered spot if we’re serving outside
  • Room for the bar alongside the vehicle, if booked together

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.
