Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, most diets are easy. We suggest:

  • Confirm a loading spot close to the bar
  • Ensure guests have somewhere to sit
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to contact us before the day
  • Choose at least one vegan filling

We warm tortillas in batches and keep the fillings hot, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

In a small place like Woolpack Corner, a taco bar might go in a garden, a barn or a nearby hall. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, as long as we can unload within a short walk. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Hot fillings

Fillings cooked ahead and kept hot, perhaps chicken tinga, birria or carnitas.

Salsas

Fresh salsas, from a mild tomato salsa to something hotter, made for your event.

Taco bar hire or something else?

A standard buffet often sits out cold. We keep the fillings hot and refill the dishes through service. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Your questions about taco bar hire in Woolpack Corner

Can the taco bar go in a local hall rather than outside?

Yes, if the venue allows outside caterers. Tell us about the parking, the doors and the space for the station.

Do you cater in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you need electricity?

Let us know what’s available on site, such as a supply from the venue near where we’ll park, and we’ll confirm what we need with your quote.

What should the venue provide?

Tell us about the venue and the spot you have in mind, and we’ll confirm what’s needed. The venue’s agreement is needed too.

What access do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a picture and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Do you give allergen information?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

What guest numbers do you cater for?

Our service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests, while smaller parties are looked at case by case. Tell us your numbers and we’ll plan the bar around them.

How is the food prepared?

We cook to order in our food truck or trailer kitchen, or serve from a taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

How the day works

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. Guests come up to order when service opens. Planning an evening taco bar in Woolpack Corner? Sunset is around 8:45pm in late May, 9:15pm at midsummer and 7:00pm in late September. Once it gets dark, guests need to see what they’re adding to their tacos.

  1. Send us your date, where the taco bar will go, numbers and dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar spread and a quote.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. On the day our staff lay out the bar and keep it stocked while guests build their tacos.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.
