We plan the wedding menu with you, with fillings such as slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, alongside vegan choices like black beans or spiced mushrooms. Common questions in Thakeham

Is Thakeham close to London?

About 41 miles from central London.

Do you come out to small places like Thakeham?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.

Can you cater for vegans and gluten-free guests?

Diets are planned in advance and kept separate. Ask any guests with severe allergies to speak to us first.

What if the timings change?

We plan for it. Food is served to order, so we can start when you’re ready, even if that moves.

Can you serve drinks at our wedding?

You can add our drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. Your venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice will be needed for alcohol, and we’ll check that with you.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are easy to plan for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will suggest mild options.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, gluten-free options are available, made with corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

Can I do a taco night myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

Where the truck can go in Thakeham

If a space is not suitable, we’ll tell you, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

How the day works

Once service is over, we pack down and clear our own area. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. In Thakeham, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means evening food is normally served in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting around the truck or trailer.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. Together we plan the food for your day.
  3. We agree timings and access with the venue.
  4. We serve at the agreed points in the day.
  5. We clear our area once service ends.

How to prepare

How to compare caterers

Dietary needs and planning tips

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Let us know about supplier meals
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP cards
  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Share your running order, including speeches

The truck or trailer can be placed where guests can see it, which makes a good photo.

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas can be added.

Wedding Mexican catering or something else?

Pizza and bacon rolls are common evening choices. Evening tacos are something different, and they’re just as easy to eat. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.
