What food truck hire costs

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • How many guests we are serving
  • The menu you choose
  • Distance and access to the venue

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Details that help

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Your menu ideas
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • What power and water the site has

Each quote is tailored to your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

How our food truck hire works in Chilworth

Guests walk up to the hatch, order and take their food away hot. It keeps things easy and relaxed for guests and hosts. For family celebrations and engagements and anniversaries, we can serve fresh salsas and guacamole, tacos from the hatch and quesadillas.

In a rural place like Chilworth, access is the main thing to plan for a hired truck: gate widths, soft ground and the route from the road all matter. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements before the day. Timings are planned around your event, whether that’s speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Hiring a food truck in Chilworth

Chilworth is about 2 miles south-west of Chandler's Ford, in Southampton. From the centre of Chilworth to the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. Chilworth is one of 40 towns and villages in Southampton where we can bring food truck hire.

For guests coming by train, Swaythling station is about 1.9 miles away. Historic houses near Chilworth include South Stoneham House (2 miles south-east) and Southampton Tudor House and Garden (4 miles south). Historic houses and estates normally have firm rules on vehicles, so ask where a hired food truck could park before you book. The coast is within about 5 miles of Chilworth, so a hired food truck at a seaside venue is an option. The truck or trailer needs firm ground rather than sand or shingle, and seafront spots normally need permission.

Here we cover the SO16 postcode area, and we can cater your event anywhere in it with access for the truck or trailer. Whether your event is on Heatherlands Road, Roman Road and Pinelands Road or anywhere nearby, we can bring food truck hire there, given access. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Chilworth Old Village (1 mile north-west), Bassett (1 mile south), Lordswood (1 mile south-west), Highfield (2 miles south) and North Baddesley (2 miles north-west). We also cater in nearby towns such as Southampton (3 miles south), Shirley (3 miles south), Regents Park (3 miles south-west), Townhill Park (3 miles south-east), Midanbury (3 miles south-east) and Thornhill (4 miles south-east).

Nearby you will also find Eastleigh Museum (2.5 miles east) and Marlands Shopping Centre (3.6 miles south). Not far away are Flexford Nature Reserve.

  • Nearby schools include Saint George Catholic Voluntary Aided College Southampton (1.4 miles south-east)

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Questions from Chilworth

Can you serve near the sea around Chilworth?

Yes, as long as the site allows it and the ground is firm. Wind, sand and seafront permissions are the main things to plan on the coast.

What’s the nearest station to Chilworth for guests?

The closest is Swaythling station, roughly 1.9 miles away.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

What access do you need?

Access and level ground matter most: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a picture of the space and the way in.

Do you offer a bar with the truck?

Our Mexican drinks bar can be added to a truck booking, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. We’ll go through the licensing with you.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we will suggest the best set-up.

Do you sell to the public at private events?

When you hire us, the booking is yours, so we don’t serve passers-by. Organisers wanting us to trade at their event can see our festival page.

What does it cost to hire the truck?

There’s no fixed price list, as every booking is different. Send your details and you will get a quote. Our food truck hire guide explains what affects the cost.

How it compares

Plated catering needs a kitchen tent, waiting staff and set courses. A food truck arrives as a kitchen and serves from the hatch. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we will set out what’s included.

Why book with us

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Access, space and power checked in advance
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you

What happens on the day

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. December events in Chilworth lose the light at about 4:00pm, so ask the venue about outdoor lighting where we will park. At midsummer, sunset is around 9:25pm.

  1. Send us your date, the address, a headcount and dietary needs.
  2. We check availability and send a menu and a quote for hiring the truck or trailer.
  3. Where the truck or trailer will stand, the route in, and power and water are all agreed in advance.
  4. Your guests order at the hatch and we serve hot food at the agreed times.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

How to prepare

  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

How to get a price
