How our food truck hire works in The City

The hatch menu is agreed with you: tacos and burritos, with bowls, nachos or quesadillas if you like, finished with salsas and guacamole. It suits engagement parties and staff appreciation days, serving fresh salsas and guacamole, burrito bowls and quesadillas.

In a small place like The City, a hired food truck might park in a garden, paddock or field. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives. Firm ground matters, especially after rain. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, with allergen information for everything we serve.

The City: your questions answered

Which station should guests use for The City?

The closest is Saunderton station, roughly 1.8 miles away.

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Paul: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

How spicy is the food?

The food can be kept mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes. Dairy-free options are part of our menus.

Do you do a taco bar?

Yes. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

How much space do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a photo of the space and the way in.

How much is food truck hire?

We don’t publish set prices, because each hire is different. Tell us your plans and we will quote for your event. Our food truck hire guide explains what affects the cost.

What affects the price in The City

We quote for your event, and the price is based on:

  • How many guests we’re serving
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • How many staff you need

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for food truck hire. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Details that help

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • What you’d like on the menu

We quote for each event separately, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle
  • Distance from houses and windows
  • Power and water, confirmed with each booking

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Food truck hire or something else?

Hiring a food truck is different from finding one at a festival. At public events, anyone can buy; when you hire us, we serve only your guests, on your timings. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. Every event gets its own quote.

What we offer in The City

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • A clear quote
  • Menus for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests
  • Book food, drinks or both

Read our pricing and our guide to catering costs.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

How the day works

Serving is quick: guests are served at the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. Afterwards we clear our area. December events in The City lose the light at about 3:55pm, so choose a well-lit spot for the truck or trailer. At midsummer, sunset is around 9:25pm.

  1. Check our availability for your date.
  2. You get a menu for the hatch and a quote.
  3. The spot and the way in are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, guests order at the hatch and we cook to order.
  5. We pack down and drive away when service ends.

Before we arrive

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site

How to get a price

It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We will come back with a clear quote and a suggested menu.
