About our Mexican catering in Gun Hill

Looking for taco catering in Gun Hill? Our truck and trailer service tends to suit around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so tell us your numbers. At festivals, fairs and markets and engagement and anniversary parties, we will put together a menu of loaded nachos, a build-your-own taco bar and burrito bowls and more.

In a hamlet or village like Gun Hill, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a good venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Planning the serving area

Before the day, we’ll agree where we park and serve. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Gun Hill: venues, access and local tips

Gun Hill is about 3 miles north-west of Hailsham, in East Sussex. Wherever your event is in the TN21 area, we will come to your venue or site. We cover 289 places in East Sussex, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. We cater right across the region, from Gun Hill to Brighton (16 miles away).

Venues in and around the South Downs National Park, within about 8 miles of Gun Hill, sometimes limit where vehicles can go. Ask yours about access for a truck or trailer before you book.

Mexican catering in TN21 is planned around your venue and access. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Hale Green (1 mile west), Muddles Green (1 mile south-west), Burlow (1 mile north-east), Horam (2 miles north-east) and Lions Green (2 miles north). Further out, we also cater in Eastbourne (9 miles south), Hastings (15 miles east), Bexhill-on-Sea (11 miles east), Seaford (10 miles south-west), Lewes (10 miles west) and Hailsham (3 miles south-east).

Planning for every diet

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Think about cover for guests in wet weather
  • Flag anyone with coeliac disease
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event

We have allergen information for every dish at the hatch.

Extra salsas and toppings can widen the choice.

Planners, venues and businesses

Organising a club, school or community event in Gun Hill? A truck or trailer serves a crowd quickly, with options for most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

How it compares

Sit-down meals need a kitchen, tables and more staff. A food truck or trailer is its own kitchen, so we need a suitable spot, access and the venue’s permission, with power and water confirmed when you book. Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

Why book with us

  • Menus for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests
  • Allergen information for everything we serve
  • Events in Gun Hill and across East Sussex
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue

FAQs for Gun Hill

Do you come out to small places like Gun Hill?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Do you cater in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

What do you serve?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings could include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. Our sample menu has more ideas.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, like a marquee or gazebo.

Can you do gluten-free food?

We can, using corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

What space do you need?

We need level, firm ground or hardstanding, access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water when you book.

Can you cater for special diets?

We can. We plan gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Allergen information is available for every dish.

Is the food made fresh?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

The process

Serving is quick: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so even a long queue moves. When service ends, we pack down. In Gun Hill, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We put together a menu around your guests and quote for it.
  3. We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
