Mexican street food in The Haven

How our Mexican street food works in The Haven

A taco stall covers many diets at once: we serve vegan and vegetarian fillings and corn tortillas for gluten-free visitors. That helps organisers balance the line-up. It suits street food and farmers’ markets and outdoor cinema and theatre nights, serving burritos, loaded nachos and quesadillas.

Rural events near The Haven can be a long way from food outlets, so a taco truck is a welcome sight. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

How the day works

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. By late September, it is dark in The Haven at around 7:05pm, so an evening programme will run partly after dusk. Organisers should plan that into the site layout.

  1. You send us the event, the dates and the pitch details.
  2. We confirm our menu, our pitch needs and the paperwork your event asks for.
  3. We arrive at the agreed time and set up on our pitch.
  4. Tacos, burritos and more are served to order while the event is open.
  5. We pack away and leave the pitch tidy.

How to prepare

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer

Questions from The Haven

Is The Haven close to London?

Roughly 34 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Will you travel to a small place like The Haven?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Do you do crew catering?

Yes, at set times to suit your schedule. Send us numbers and times.

Can you handle a lunchtime rush?

With fillings ready to go, service is quick.

Do you come to The Haven?

We do. The Haven is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

Can you bring margaritas?

It depends on the event’s licence. Tell us whether the event has a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice.

What do you need at the pitch?

Tell us what’s available at the pitch and we’ll confirm what we need. We confirm power and water with each booking.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

We confirm that with your quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we will talk it through.

Perfect for your event in The Haven

Crew appreciate a hot meal on a long day.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Typical bookings include:

  • Music and food festivals
  • School fairs and fundraisers
  • Summer fairs and fêtes
  • Country shows

For a public event, it helps to tell people that the nearest station is Billingshurst station, about 3.4 miles south.

Before you book anyone

  • The wet-weather plan
  • Space, access, power and water needs
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • The caterer’s food hygiene rating

Our caterer checklist

Should I do it myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Make allergen information visible at every stall
  • Ask about peak-time capacity
  • Plan seating near the food area
  • Schedule crew meals

We serve from the hatch throughout trading hours.

A vegan filling on every menu.

What affects the price in The Haven

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Serving staff
  • The length of service
  • What the venue already provides
  • Distance and access to the venue

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: serving hours, staff, disposables, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we’ll set out what’s included.

Getting an accurate quote

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Where the event is
  • Your menu ideas
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Roughly how many adults and children

The quickest way to a quote is to send a quick message through our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll put together a menu and price.

Mexican street food or something else?

One-dish stalls leave some visitors out. Tacos, burritos, bowls and nachos give choice from one pitch. There is no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican street food. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Your quote sets it all out.

Why us?

  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch
  • Every guest catered for, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan included
  • Quoted for your event
