Mexican catering in CR4: what to expect

Our truck and trailer service tends to suit around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case, so tell us your numbers. On the menu are loaded nachos, tacos and burrito bowls, and it suits family gatherings and christenings and staff parties and office lunches.

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, we open the hatch when you are ready, and your guests are served fresh until service ends.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

Also close by are St. Mark's Church (within half a mile south-west), St Mark's Church of England Academy (less than half a mile south-east) and Lonesome Primary School (within half a mile east). Eastfields has its own railway station: Mitcham Eastfields station. Well-known places in the area include Wandle Industrial Museum (0.7 miles south-west) and St Leonard's (1.7 miles north-east). Planning a food truck in CR4

Across CR4, we cater in 3 towns and 0 villages and hamlets, so whether your event is in London, Streatham and Colliers Wood or a quiet village, the approach is the same: access, level ground and a clear plan.

Eastfields: Before you pencil in Figge's Marsh, find out who manages it: driving a truck onto parkland and selling food there both need their agreement. By rail: Mitcham Eastfields station is in Eastfields itself. Daylight in Eastfields runs to about 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. Let us know if service will run after dark, and we will talk about lighting.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Mexican catering or something else?

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, thanks to separate fillings and toppings.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Travel and parking costs
  • What the caterer needs from your venue
  • Payment terms and deposit
  • How each diet is kept separate

What we need at the venue

We’ll agree the spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours
  • Space for guests to queue
  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand

Prices and what affects them

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Serving staff
  • Parking and the route in
  • Whether you need disposables
  • The menu you choose

Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Expected numbers
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Your menu ideas

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: give us the basics about your event, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, use our quote form.

Questions from CR4

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including CR4.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

How is the food prepared?

Food is cooked to order in our truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

Can you cater for special diets?

Diets are planned in advance, with options kept separate, though we cannot guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

How big an event can you cater?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. For anything outside that, ask us.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
