About Mexican catering in E2

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Everyone builds their own tacos from what’s laid out, so nobody ends up with something they don’t want. We serve a build-your-own taco bar, tacos and quesadillas, which works well for christenings and family parties and summer garden parties.

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A picture of the space helps.

  1. You tell us the date, the venue, rough guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. Before the day, we agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. We arrive, set up and cook to order, with salsas and guacamole made fresh.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

What it costs in E2

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.

Planning a food truck in E2

Across E2, we cater in 4 towns and 0 villages and hamlets, so whether your event is in Shoreditch, Whitechapel and Bethnal Green or a quiet village, the approach is the same: access, level ground and a clear plan.

Bethnal Green: Historic houses near Bethnal Green include Sutton House (1.4 miles north) and Mansion House (1.6 miles south-west). Estates and historic houses tend to set their own rules for caterers, so find out what yours allows first. When the service is at a church such as St Peter's, the food normally happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck. Around midsummer it stays light in Bethnal Green until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

How it compares

Pizza and burger vans are familiar choices. Mexican street food stands out, while still being easy food most people enjoy.

Comparing caterers

  • The caterer’s food hygiene rating
  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included
  • The deposit and payment dates
  • Allergen information for each dish

Questions from E2

Do you cater for big events?

That depends on the event. As a guide, it is around 50 to 400 guests; tell us your numbers and we will take it from there.

What do you need at the venue?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can explain how we prepare their food. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Send us a picture of the access and the space.

Do you cook on site?

We cook to order in our food truck or trailer kitchen, or serve from a taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
