How our taco bar hire works in Borden

We run the taco bar ourselves: warming tortillas, keeping fillings hot and refilling the salsas as they go. Your hosts can stay with their guests. For company parties and team lunches, we’ll put together a menu of guacamole, fresh salsas and warm corn and flour tortillas.

Near Borden, a marquee or barn makes a good home for a taco bar. Our staff set up the station and run it through service. We plan the timings around your day, so service starts when you want it.

How we price taco bar hire

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • The number of people
  • Timings and hours
  • Food, drinks or both
  • Serving staff

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Details that help

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Where the event is
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • The date and time of the event

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, food or drinks or both, and the access. When you are ready, tell us about it on our contact page.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

The difference between a taco bar and truck service is who builds the taco. At the hatch, we make each order; at the taco bar, guests do the building. Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why us?

  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • A plan agreed before the day
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you

Take a look at how we price or the cost guide.

What happens on the day

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a picture of the space if you are unsure. Planning an evening taco bar in Borden? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:15pm at midsummer and 7:00pm in late September. After dusk, lights over the station help guests build their tacos.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan the fillings, salsas and toppings with you.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. On the day, guests help themselves while we keep the bar stocked.
  5. When everyone has eaten, we pack up.

Planners, venues and businesses

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we’ll let you know if it is a good fit.

Occasions we cater for in Borden

You aren’t limited to places a truck can park, like a barn, courtyard or hall, if the venue agrees.

We can help if you are planning any of the following:

  • Retirement parties
  • Back-garden gatherings
  • Christenings and family parties
  • Evening wedding receptions

When the service is at a church such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church.

  • Where to see their hygiene rating
  • How late numbers can change

How to compare caterers

Salsas

Guests add as much heat as they like.

Warm tortillas

Tortillas are the base of the bar. We keep a steady supply going through service.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Common questions in Borden

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Peter and St Paul: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Send us the reception address.

Do you come out to small places like Borden?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, we can. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will plan the menu around them.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu, served alongside the meat options.

What should the venue provide?

A level spot for the serving table, room to queue and somewhere close to unload our vehicle. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Is the food suitable for children?

Yes. Mild dishes, quesadillas and nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

What areas do you cover?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Planning the serving area

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. In general, we need:

  • Space beside the truck or trailer if you’re booking both
  • Shelter from rain and sun for an outdoor bar
  • Power and water, which we confirm when you book

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.
