How our taco bar hire works in High Brooms

The bar can stand beside our food truck or trailer, or on its own. If the truck cannot get to the spot, we park close by, unload and carry the bar in, with the venue’s agreement. It works well for leaving and retirement parties and family celebrations, serving guacamole, slow-cooked fillings kept hot and burrito bowls.

In and around High Brooms, a taco bar works beside the truck or in a hall nearby. Where access is tight, the truck stays nearby and the station goes where your guests are. We cater for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Questions from High Brooms

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

What’s the nearest station to High Brooms for guests?

High Brooms station, in High Brooms itself.

What do you serve?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings could include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. Our sample menu has more ideas.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. Timings are agreed in advance so everything fits your schedule.

Can you keep it mild?

That’s your choice: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

How does a taco bar work?

We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings on a serving table, and each guest builds their own. Our staff keep it hot and topped up.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including High Brooms.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

Pizza is the usual crowd-pleaser, but a taco bar lets every guest design their own plate. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • A short, clear path for carrying the bar in
  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement
  • Room nearby to park and unload our vehicle

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Popular choices

How to compare caterers

Prices and what affects them

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Food, drinks or both
  • What’s on the menu
  • Distance and access to the venue

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, along with extras and where your event is. Every event gets its own quote.

What we need to know

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Your menu ideas
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Still deciding on the menu? That is fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will make suggestions. To start, send a quick message through our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because options can be kept separate. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Let us know about anyone who is coeliac
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to contact us before the day
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar

If the schedule slips, tell us and we’ll hold everything hot until you are ready.

Our truck or trailer can serve later in the day, after the taco bar.

What happens on the day

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, let us know and we’ll adjust where we can. Winter evenings in High Brooms close in by about 3:55pm, so set the station up where the lighting is good. At midsummer, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Share a few details about the event.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar menu and a quote.
  3. We check power, water and access with your venue.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. At the end, we take everything away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Working with your venue

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

A build-your-own taco bar in High Brooms

High Brooms is about 1 mile north-east of Royal Tunbridge Wells, in Kent. From the centre of High Brooms to the outskirts, taco bar hire works the same way: a truck or trailer at your event, options for every diet and a clear price. Close to High Brooms are historic houses such as Groombridge Place (4.4 miles south-west) and Penshurst Place (4.4 miles north-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, ask early whether a staffed taco bar is allowed and where we could unload. When the service is at a church such as St Matthew's Church, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church. Check with yours where a taco bar station and our truck or trailer could go.
