Planning an event in Milstead?

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How many staff you need
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

What to tell us

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Your menu ideas
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • A picture of where we’d park

Not sure what you need yet? That is fine: give us the basics about your event, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, send a quick message through our quote form.

Taco bar hire for your event in Milstead

Mixed diets are simple at a taco bar, as fillings and toppings are kept in separate dishes. There are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free choices, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Popular choices include burrito bowls, warm corn and flour tortillas and guacamole, and it is a good fit for wedding meals and evening receptions.

Somewhere as small as Milstead, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If the truck can’t get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

About the menu

Salsas

Guests add as much heat as they like.

Vegan fillings

Vegan guests get a proper filling of their own.

Can I do a taco night myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Milstead: venues, access and set-up

Milstead is about 3 miles south of Sittingbourne, in Kent. Wherever your event is in the ME9 area, we can bring the truck or trailer to you, as long as there’s access. We serve in all 922 towns and villages in Kent. We cater right across the region, from Milstead to Maidstone (about 9 miles away).

Before you plan a taco bar in Cromers Wood, find out who manages it, as catering and unloading there both need their agreement. When the service is at a church such as Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church. Venues in and around the Kent Downs National Landscape, within about 5 miles of Milstead, sometimes have strict rules about catering and vehicles. Check with yours where a taco bar station and our food truck or trailer could go.

We cater events across the ME9 postcode area. Local streets include Frinsted Road, Manor Road and Horn Hill; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. Close by, we cover events in Hollybushes (1 mile south-east), Bluetown (1 mile south-east), Frinsted (1 mile south-west), Wichling (2 miles south-east) and Doddington (2 miles south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Maidstone (9 miles west), Ashford (12 miles south-east), Canterbury (15 miles east), Sittingbourne (3 miles north), Whitstable (14 miles east) and Faversham (7 miles east).

A little further out are Sittingbourne Heritage Museum (3 miles north) and Newnham Castle (3.2 miles east).

Dietary needs and planning tips

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Send us allergy details in writing
  • Check where our vehicle can unload

If speeches or timings run over, we keep the fillings hot and start when you are ready.

A wider range of salsas suits guests who like it mild and those who like it hot.

Working with your venue

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

Questions to ask before booking

Your questions about taco bar hire in Milstead

Will you travel to a small place like Milstead?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Do you come to events in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. Tell us about narrow lanes and soft ground.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, gluten-free options are available, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

How many guests can a taco bar serve?

That depends on your timings and the event. Most bookings fall around 50 to 400 guests.

How much space do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s agreement. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Tell us about your space and numbers and we will suggest the best set-up.

Can you set up where a truck cannot get in?

The bar can stand on its own, away from the truck or trailer. We still need somewhere close to unload our vehicle, and the venue has to agree.

Can you come to a private house?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Send us a photo and we’ll talk it through.

What happens on the day

Daylight in Milstead runs to about 8:50pm in late May and 7:00pm in late September. Let us know if an outdoor station will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. We suggest fillings, salsas and toppings for the bar and send a quote.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.
