About our taco bar hire in Northway

A taco bar suits mixed diets well, as fillings and toppings are kept in separate dishes. We plan gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. On the menu are slow-cooked fillings kept hot, pickled onions and toppings and guacamole, and it is a good fit for company parties and garden parties.

In and around Northway, a taco bar works beside the truck or in a hall nearby. If the truck can’t reach the garden, we park as close as we can and set the station up where your guests are, as long as we can unload within a short walk. We plan the timings around your day, so service starts when you want it.

Warm tortillas

Corn and flour tortillas, warmed through in batches so there is always one ready. Corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

The toppings are where guests make each taco their own.

What happens on the day

On the day, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in Northway until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so an outdoor taco bar in summer is generally served in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, plan good lighting over the station.

  1. Share a few details about the event.
  2. We send a sample spread and a quote.
  3. Access, power and water are agreed beforehand.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. At the end, we take everything away.

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Parking and the route in

Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you choose what goes in.

Getting an accurate quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • The date and rough timings
  • Where the event is
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you need. To ask for one, send a quick message through our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Common questions in Northway

We are having a ceremony at St Anthony of Padua: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Which station is closest to Northway?

Oxford station, about 2.4 miles south-west of the centre.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will suggest mild options.

How big an event can you cater?

It depends on the menu and how long service runs, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. Tell us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

Ask us when you enquire. Let us know what you already have, and we will confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, made with corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can talk through how their food is prepared.

What do you need at the venue?

Tell us about the venue and the spot you have in mind, and we’ll confirm what’s needed. We also need the venue’s permission.

Why choose taco bar hire in Northway?

You are not limited to places a truck can park, like a barn, courtyard or hall, if the venue agrees.

Whatever you are celebrating in Northway, our truck or trailer can be the centre of it. We’re happy to cater:

  • Leaving and retirement parties
  • Engagement parties
  • Wedding breakfasts
  • Christenings and family parties

Historic houses near Northway include Holywell Manor, Oxford (1.5 miles south-west) and Garsington Manor (4.8 miles south-east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, ask early whether a staffed taco bar is allowed and where we could unload.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Diets, allergies and planning

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Decide where the table goes before the day
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar
  • Plan the taco bar around speeches and timings

Once guests have eaten, we clear the table and pack up and leave the spot tidy.

Burrito bowls sit well on the bar for anyone avoiding tortillas.

Where the truck can go in Northway

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • The venue’s agreement for the taco bar and our vehicle
  • Space for a serving table on level ground
  • Room for the bar alongside the vehicle, if booked together

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.
