How our taco bar hire works in Out Elmstead

With a taco bar, everything is laid out in one place: tortillas kept warm, fillings kept hot, and bowls of salsa, guacamole and toppings. Each guest takes a plate and fills it their way. It works well for wedding day food and back-garden gatherings, with fresh salsas, guacamole and a build-your-own taco bar.

Near Out Elmstead, a taco bar next to the truck in a field or garden works well. Let us know about the gate, the ground and the route in, and we’ll confirm power and water with you. We turn up ready to serve, and tidy our own area afterwards.

The process

We take care of everything you’ve booked, from set-up to service, so you can spend time with your guests. Around midsummer it stays light in Out Elmstead until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with the essentials: the date, venue, headcount and diets.
  2. We plan the fillings and toppings with you and quote for them.
  3. Before the day, we confirm the serving spot, unloading, power and water with the venue.
  4. Our staff set up the station, keep the fillings hot and top up the bar through service.
  5. Once guests have eaten, we take down the bar and leave the spot tidy.

Planning help

Taco bar hire or something else?

If you want food that feels sociable but still well run, a taco bar is a strong choice for your event. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

Why book with us

  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • Service planned around your numbers
  • A menu agreed with you

See how we price or the cost guide.

Before you choose a spot

We serve from a truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Details of power and water near the bar
  • Space for a serving table on level ground
  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

What we offer

  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Vegan fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Two to four fillings

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Put guests with serious allergies in touch with us early
  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Decide where the table goes before the day
  • Check where our vehicle can unload

Dishes are labelled, with allergen information available at the table.

Our food truck or trailer can serve later in the day, after the taco bar.

Why choose taco bar hire in Out Elmstead?

Guests on special diets do not need a separate meal.

These are some of the occasions we serve in Out Elmstead and Kent:

  • Retirement parties
  • Wedding breakfasts
  • Evening receptions
  • Birthday celebrations

When the service is at a church such as Church of St Giles, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church.

Before booking anyone

  • Whether VAT is included
  • A food hygiene rating you can check
  • Allergen information for each dish
  • What the caterer needs from your venue

Questions to ask before booking

Should I do it myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

FAQs for Out Elmstead

Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Could you serve in Jumping Downs?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

How long are you on site?

We get there well before service to set up. The length of service is agreed when you book, along with pack-down.

Is the food made fresh?

We cook to order in our truck or trailer kitchen, or serve from a taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Can the taco bar cater for special diets?

We plan vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free choices, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Every dish has allergen information.

Is a taco bar suitable for a big group?

That depends on your timings and the event. As a guide, our bookings typically fall around 50 to 400 guests.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Read our taco bar guide.

How much space do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.
