Taco bar hire for Sprat's Down events

Prices and what affects them

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • What the venue already provides
  • How many staff you need
  • How many guests we are serving
  • Your choice of food and drinks

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Getting an accurate quote

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • The date and rough timings
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Taco bar hire in Sprat's Down, served fresh

You choose the fillings with us, perhaps carnitas, chicken tinga or birria, with a vegan filling like black bean and sweet potato or spiced mushroom. It suits christenings and family parties and engagement parties, with warm corn and flour tortillas, guacamole and slow-cooked fillings kept hot.

For a rural spot like Sprat's Down, a taco bar beside the truck in a field or garden is a simple set-up. Let us know about the gate, the ground and the route in, and we will confirm power and water with you. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

How it works

Expect a friendly, organised team. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our truck or trailer, and get on with serving. Winter evenings in Sprat's Down close in by about 4:00pm, so an indoor spot or a well-lit station works best. In late June, the light holds until around 9:20pm.

  1. Get in touch with your date and headcount.
  2. We plan fillings and toppings around your guests’ diets.
  3. We fix timings with you and the venue.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. We clear our station when service ends.

Sprat's Down: venues, access and set-up

Sprat's Down is about 4 miles north of Cowes, in Hampshire. Whether your event is in the middle of Sprat's Down or on the outskirts, taco bar hire works the same way: a truck or trailer at your event, options for every diet and a clear price. Sprat's Down is one of 683 towns and villages in Hampshire we cover. Our nearest city page is Southampton, about 8 miles away.

By rail: Hamble station is about 4 miles away. Around Sprat's Down, historic houses include Beaulieu Palace House (4.7 miles west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, ask early whether a staffed taco bar is allowed and where we could unload. Venues in and around the New Forest National Park, within about 5 miles of Sprat's Down, sometimes have strict rules about catering and vehicles. Check with yours where a taco bar station and our truck or trailer could go. Sprat's Down is within about 4 miles of the sea, so for a seaside taco bar we plan around the wind. A sheltered spot for the station helps, and seafront sites generally need permission.

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Make sure one filling is vegan
  • Let us know about anyone who is coeliac
  • Include a dietary question on your invitations
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to contact us before the day

We arrive with time to unload and set the bar up before guests eat.

Extra salsas, from mild to hot, let guests choose their own heat.

What we need at the venue

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but there are a few things to check:

  • A clear route from the vehicle to the serving spot
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload
  • Power and water, which we confirm when you book

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Sprat's Down: your questions answered

Do you come to events in the New Forest National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. Tell us about narrow lanes and soft ground.

Can the taco bar go in a local hall rather than outside?

We can, as long as the venue agrees. The station needs room for a queue, and we need to park and unload close to the door.

How do you handle dietary needs at the taco bar?

Fillings and toppings sit in separate dishes, which helps with mixed diets, though we can’t guarantee there are no traces of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us first.

How big an event can you cater?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but our truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. For anything outside that, ask us.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Send us a picture of the access and the space, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.

What is a build-your-own taco bar?

We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings on a serving table, and guests build their own tacos. We stay to keep everything hot and stocked.

Can you keep it mild?

The food can be kept mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

What if a vehicle can’t reach the serving spot?

The bar can stand on its own, away from the truck or trailer. We still need to park our vehicle nearby to unload, and the venue’s agreement.

For planners, venues and organisers

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Let us know how long the break is.

Who books taco bar hire in Sprat's Down?

A full taco bar looks inviting: bright salsas, fresh guacamole and bowls of toppings in a row make an easy centrepiece.

Whatever you’re celebrating in Sprat's Down, our food truck or trailer can be the centre of it. We can cater:

  • Engagement parties
  • Birthday celebrations
  • Wedding day food
  • Marquee parties

After a christening or wedding at a church such as St George, a taco bar at a hall or garden nearby lets guests build their own tacos.

  • How bad weather is handled
  • What the caterer needs from your venue
