Taco bar hire for Stonor events

How it compares

A taco bar and a truck serve the same food in different ways. From the truck, we put each order together; at the bar, guests build their own. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

What you get with us

  • A plan agreed before the day
  • Every guest catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch
  • Allergen information for every dish

Taco bar hire for your event in Stonor

A taco bar puts the whole spread on one table: warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Guests pick up a plate and build their own. We serve warm corn and flour tortillas, pickled onions and toppings and a build-your-own taco bar, and it’s a good fit for barn and marquee parties and wedding day food.

Somewhere as small as Stonor, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Should I do it myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Dietary needs and planning tips

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Have tables and seats ready for guests to eat at
  • Send us allergy details in writing
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Let us know about anyone who is coeliac

If speeches or timings run over, we keep the fillings hot and start when you are ready.

Book the truck or trailer for evening food after a daytime taco bar, quoted with the rest.

What happens on the day

Your timings come first. If things run behind, let us know and we’ll adjust where we can. Daylight in Stonor runs to about 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. Let us know if an outdoor station will run after dark, and we will talk about lighting.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. We suggest fillings, salsas and toppings for the bar and send a quote.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Find out what power and water are available

Stonor: your questions answered

We’re having a ceremony at Pishill Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Could you set up a taco bar in a hall near Stonor?

Yes, if the venue allows outside caterers. Tell us about the parking, the doors and the space for the station.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Do you stay to run the taco bar?

Our staff set up the bar, keep the fillings hot and top up the dishes.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

How much is a food truck for an event?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually need. Tell us your date and numbers and we will reply with a quote.

Do you do a taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of our options. Tell us about your space and numbers and we will recommend how to serve.

Planning the serving area

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but there are a few things to check:

  • Shelter from rain and sun for an outdoor bar
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Space for a serving table on level ground

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

Popular choices

  • Vegan fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Two to four fillings
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Tortilla chips
  • Pickled onions and toppings

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Parking and the route in
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Whether you need disposables

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • The date and rough timings
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Where the event is

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just fill in our quote form.
