Taco bar hire near Thurnham

How it compares

A taco bar and a truck serve the same food in different ways. At the hatch, we make each order; at the taco bar, guests do the building. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

What you get with us

  • Every guest catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included
  • Book food, drinks or both
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you

How our taco bar hire works in Thurnham

A taco bar suits mixed diets well, because every filling and topping sits in its own dish. We plan vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests, plus allergen information for every dish. For summer garden parties and christenings and family parties, we can serve warm corn and flour tortillas, fresh salsas and a build-your-own taco bar for your guests.

In a small place like Thurnham, a taco bar might go in a garden, a barn or a nearby hall. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Organising for someone else?

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we will let you know if it is a good fit.

Warm tortillas

Corn and flour tortillas, warmed through in batches so there’s always one ready. Corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Guacamole

Guacamole goes quickly on a taco bar, so we keep it topped up.

Step by step

We arrive in good time before service, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. Around midsummer it stays light in Thurnham until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with the essentials: the date, venue, headcount and diets.
  2. We plan the fillings and toppings with you and quote for them.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. Our staff set up the station, keep the fillings hot and top up the bar through service.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready

Thurnham: your questions answered

Is it possible to have you in White Horse Wood?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

Which station is closest to Thurnham?

Guests can use Bearsted station, about 1.1 miles south-west of Thurnham.

How big an event can you cater?

It depends on the menu and how long service runs, but our truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Tell us your numbers and we will advise.

Is the food suitable for children?

Of course. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

How far ahead should we book?

The sooner the better. Popular dates go first, so it pays to ask early.

What about power on site?

It depends on the event and the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there is a supply near where we will park.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

We can. Dairy-free options are part of our menus.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

What we need at the venue

We’ll be honest if a space won’t work, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • A sheltered spot if we are serving outside
  • Space for a serving table on level ground
  • Space for a line of guests at the bar

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.

Thurnham: venues, access and set-up

Thurnham is about 3 miles north-east of Maidstone, in Kent. For taco bar hire in Thurnham, we can serve in gardens, fields, venues, car parks and courtyards with access in and around Thurnham. We serve in all 922 towns and villages in Kent, wherever the truck or trailer can get in.

Historic houses near Thurnham include Stoneacre (2.6 miles south) and Leeds Castle (3.4 miles south-east). Historic venues often limit where vehicles can go, so ask whether a taco bar station could be set up inside while our food truck or trailer parks further off. Parks such as White Horse Wood typically need the owner’s agreement for catering, even without a truck on the grass, so ask before you plan. The Kent Downs National Landscape is within about 3 miles of Thurnham, with barns and country venues that could host a taco bar. Where vehicles can’t reach the room, the station can be set up there with the venue’s agreement, but we still need to unload close by.

Diets, allergies and planning

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Collect dietary needs with your replies
  • Check where our vehicle can unload

Fillings are kept hot and tortillas warmed in batches, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

Add burrito bowls for guests who’d rather skip tortillas.
