About our taco bar hire in Caring

The bar can stand beside our food truck or trailer, or on its own. If the truck can’t get to the spot, we park close by, unload and carry the bar in, with the venue’s agreement. On the menu are pickled onions and toppings, a build-your-own taco bar and fresh salsas, and it’s a good fit for retirement parties and working lunches.

For a rural spot like Caring, a taco bar beside the truck in a field or garden is a simple set-up. Tell us about gates, ground and the distance from the lane, and we confirm power and water arrangements before the day. We will check the space, access and power with you before the day, so set-up goes smoothly.

Who books taco bar hire in Caring?

Building your own is quick, so a crowd is fed at a steady pace, which suits a wedding breakfast or a lunch break.

Here are some of the events we cater:

  • Evening receptions
  • Barn parties
  • Back-garden gatherings
  • Engagement and anniversary parties

When the service is at a church such as St Nicholas's Church, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church.

How to compare caterers

DIY taco night versus a caterer

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Planning for every diet

With a little notice, most diets are easy. We suggest:

  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Decide where the table goes before the day
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Confirm a loading spot close to the bar

After the last plate, we take the bar down.

Add burrito bowls for guests who’d rather skip tortillas.

Working with your venue

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we will let you know if it’s a good fit.

Space, access and the venue

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you contact us. In general, we need:

  • Shelter from rain and sun for an outdoor bar
  • A flat spot for the taco-bar station
  • Permission from the venue for us to set up

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Popular choices

  • Tortilla chips
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Vegan fillings
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Two to four fillings

How the day works

Here’s how the day normally runs: we arrive and set up, we open the hatch when you’re ready, and we serve your guests fresh until service ends. Planning an evening taco bar in Caring? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:15pm at midsummer and 7:00pm in late September. After dusk, lights over the station help guests build their tacos.

  1. Send us your date, where the taco bar will go, numbers and dietary needs.
  2. We plan the fillings and toppings with you and quote for them.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.

Preparing for the day

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain

How it compares

A taco bar and a truck serve the same food in different ways. At the hatch, we make each order; at the taco bar, guests do the building. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Why us?

  • A plan agreed before the day
  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • A menu agreed with you
