How our taco bar hire works in Upper Bush

A taco bar suits mixed diets well, as fillings and toppings are kept in separate dishes. We plan vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests, plus allergen information for every dish. On the menu are a build-your-own taco bar, warm corn and flour tortillas and fresh salsas, and it’s a good fit for marquee parties and milestone birthdays.

Somewhere as small as Upper Bush, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If the truck can’t get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. Your quote sets out what’s included: menu, timings and any add-ons.

Planning the serving area

We’ll be honest if a space won’t work. What matters most:

  • Room for guests to queue along the table
  • A short, clear path for carrying the bar in
  • A spot next to the truck or trailer when both are booked

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.

Prices and what affects them

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • Parking and the route in
  • The number of people
  • What’s on the menu
  • Serving staff

What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so share your ideas with us. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

Getting an accurate quote

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • The address or venue name
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • Expected numbers

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: venue, timings, menu ideas and access. To send your details, send a quick message through our quote form.

Upper Bush questions

Do you come out to small places like Upper Bush?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Church of St Michael and All Angels?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you need electricity?

It depends on the event and the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there is a supply near where we’ll park.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service usually suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Tell us your numbers.

Who clears up?

We clear our own area when service is finished. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

Can you plan for allergies?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

How it compares

Plated meals depend on a kitchen and a team of waiting staff. For a taco bar, we need a serving spot, a nearby place to unload and the venue’s permission, with power and water confirmed when you book. Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you choose what goes in.

Why us?

  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar
  • Quoted for your event
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue
  • Served fresh from our food truck or trailer

See our prices page and the cost guide.

How the day works

Service is quick and friendly: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our area. Around midsummer it stays light in Upper Bush until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so an outdoor taco bar in summer is typically served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with your date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. Together we choose what goes on the bar.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. On the day, guests help themselves while we keep the bar stocked.
  5. We clear the bar away after service.

Planning for every diet

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Check where our vehicle can unload
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar
  • Count children separately
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP

After the last plate, we take the bar down and leave the spot tidy.

Ask us about plates, napkins and cutlery and we’ll set out the options in your quote.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.
