Taco bar hire for Viables events

What affects the price in Viables

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Timings and hours
  • How many staff you need
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

What we need to know

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • The address or venue name

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: give us the basics about your event, and we will suggest a menu. To start, use our quote form.

The toppings are where guests get creative: pickled onions, coriander, lime, shredded lettuce and cheese. On the menu are slow-cooked fillings kept hot, fresh salsas and pickled onions and toppings, and it is a good fit for wedding evening food and wedding meals.

For a place the size of Viables, a garden or a hall nearby can suit a taco bar. We set up and run the station, and guests choose their own fillings and toppings. Let us know about the drive and parking. Food and drinks can be booked together or separately, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

Viables questions

Is it possible to have you in Hackwood Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide what they ask for from us.

What’s the nearest station to Viables for guests?

Guests can use Basingstoke station, about 1.3 miles north of Viables.

Who looks after the taco bar?

The taco bar is served from a table or station by our staff, so you do not need helpers. We pack it away afterwards.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we do. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.

Are plates and napkins included?

Ask us when you enquire. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

How much is a taco bar?

There is no price list, because no two events are the same. Share your plans and you will get a quote. Our guide to Mexican catering costs may help.

Do you cook on site?

We cook to order in our truck or trailer kitchen, or serve from a taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Taco bar hire or something else?

Next to a hog roast or carvery, a taco bar caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free guests from one table. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • A plan agreed before the day
  • Menus for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests
  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar

Read our prices page or the cost guide.

Catering for every guest

Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:

  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Pick the spot for the taco bar in advance
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP
  • Send us allergy details in writing

Our staff stand behind the bar to top up dishes and help guests.

Add burrito bowls for guests who’d rather skip tortillas.

Step by step

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. A December taco bar in Viables will be in the dark from about 4:00pm, so set the station up where the lighting is good. In late June, the light holds until around 9:25pm.

  1. Share a few details about the event.
  2. We send a sample spread and a quote.
  3. We check power, water and access with your venue.
  4. We arrive, unload and lay out warm tortillas, fillings and toppings.
  5. At the end, we take everything away.

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about access, and we will let you know if it’s a good fit.

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We will provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Before you choose a spot

We’ll be honest if a space will not work, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload
  • A spot next to the truck or trailer when both are booked
  • Space for a line of guests at the bar

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.
