Planning an event in Mortimer?

DIY taco night or a caterer?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Food truck hire in Mortimer, served fresh

The truck or trailer is a working kitchen on wheels, so there is no need for kitchen space at the venue. What we do need is level ground, a way in and the venue’s agreement, with power and water confirmed per booking. It works well for client events and product launches and garden parties, with loaded nachos, vegan tacos and quesadillas.

Around Mortimer, a hired food truck can serve in a garden, a field or a hall car park. Narrow roads and soft ground are fine if we know about them. You can book food, drinks or both, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

Planning the serving area

Every venue is different, so we’ll ask about yours when you contact us. In general, we need:

  • Gate widths, overhead branches and soft ground checked in advance
  • Space in front of the hatch for guests to queue
  • Some space between the truck and nearby homes

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Dietary needs and planning tips

We cater for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests. To make it work smoothly:

  • Tell us when guests should eat
  • Tell us about coeliac guests
  • Count children separately
  • Have shelter ready in case of rain

Guests come to the hatch, order and wait a short moment for hot food.

Quesadillas make an easy option for children, if you’d like a kids’ choice.

How it compares

Several trucks mean several quotes and arrival times. One Mexican truck with a varied menu keeps things simple. There is no one-size-fits-all price for food truck hire. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Why us?

  • Events in Mortimer and across West Berkshire
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue
  • Served fresh from our food truck or trailer
  • Allergen-aware menus

Questions from Mortimer

Which station is closest to Mortimer?

The closest is Mortimer station, roughly 1.4 miles away.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Mortimer Methodist Church?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Tell us where the reception will be.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you cater for dietary needs?

We plan vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. Every dish has allergen information.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Please ask us. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you need electricity?

That depends on the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Tell us what’s available at your venue.

How much is a food truck for an event?

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Do you have vegan options?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu, served alongside the meat options.
