Food truck hire for St James's events

DIY taco night versus a caterer

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Food truck hire in St James's, from our truck or trailer

When you hire our food truck, it serves your guests and nobody else. It is a private booking, not public trading, so we plan the menu and service times around you. We serve burritos, vegan tacos and tacos from the hatch, and it is a good fit for summer parties at home and christenings and family parties.

At a private or office event in St James's, guests order at the hatch of our food truck or trailer. Let us know about the access, any barriers and the width of the way in, and send a picture if you can. You can book food, drinks or both, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

About the menu

Loaded nachos

Tortilla chips with cheese, a filling, salsa and guacamole, for sharing.

Quesadillas

Crisp tortillas folded round melted cheese, cut into wedges.

Step by step

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A picture of the space helps. At midsummer, it stays light in St James's until about 9:20pm, and by late September sunset is about 7:05pm. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so the queue by the hatch needs lighting.

  1. Tell us what the event is and who’s coming.
  2. We suggest fillings and dishes for every diet.
  3. Power, water and timings are agreed with you or the venue.
  4. The truck serves at the agreed times.
  5. Once service ends, we tidy up and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in

Planning help

  • Birthday parties

By road, St James's is on or near the A4 and A400, which makes it easy for us to reach with the truck or trailer.

  • How late numbers can change
  • How each diet is kept separate
  • How many staff are serving, and for how long
  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included

How to compare caterers

St James's: your questions answered

What about parking in St James's?

It can be tricky, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. A parking suspension may be needed, and the whole of Greater London is inside the ULEZ.

Could your truck or trailer park at our home in St James's?

That depends on the space. A drive, a courtyard or a suspended bay can all work, as long as the truck or trailer can reach a level spot. Tell us what’s outside, and remember the ULEZ covers all of Greater London.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. If the truck or trailer can’t reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Send us a picture and we’ll talk it through.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service generally suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you need electricity?

That depends on the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there’s a supply near where we will park.

What does food truck hire cost?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas and we will reply with a quote.

Where do you cater?

We cater across London and the South East, including Greater London. Find your area.

How many guests can the truck serve?

Hiring the truck or trailer generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case.

What affects the price in St James's

Contact us for a quote, and the price is based on:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Serving staff
  • The length of service

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we will set out what’s included.

Details that help

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • A picture of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers

Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll confirm whether we’re available that day.

Organising for someone else?

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can check the date.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Planning the serving area

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Room for guests to gather at the hatch
  • Power and water, confirmed with each booking
  • Some space between the truck and nearby homes

In St James's, as everywhere in Greater London, the ULEZ applies and kerb space is limited. Where will the truck or trailer stop? A drive, a courtyard or a suspended bay can all work.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.

Catering for every guest

We cater for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests. To make it work smoothly:

  • Check gate widths and any height limits
  • Check parking and loading rules for street locations
  • Send allergy details in writing
  • Let us know who is coeliac

Running late? Tell us.

Ask about a second service later in the evening, quoted with the main booking.
