  • Agree service times with us
  • Check parking and loading rules for street locations

  • Tell us about coeliac guests

The hatch opens at the time you choose, and we cook each order as it comes.

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas from our drinks bar can be added to the booking.

Food truck hire in Trench Green, from our food truck or trailer

The hatch menu is agreed with you: tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos or quesadillas, with fresh salsas and guacamole. It suits client events and product launches and christenings and family parties, with vegan tacos, fresh salsas and guacamole and tacos from the hatch.

In a rural place like Trench Green, access is the main thing to plan for a hired truck: gate widths, soft ground and the route from the road all matter. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements before the day. Everything is prepared fresh for your event and served from our truck or trailer, so guests get it at its best.

What food truck hire costs

We will give you a clear quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many guests we’re serving
  • Serving staff
  • The menu you choose

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, plus any add-ons and the location. Every event gets its own quote.

Details that help

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Your menu ideas

Thinking about food truck hire for your event in Trench Green? Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back with ideas and a quote. Just drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

Cooking yourself saves on catering but costs you the day. With a hired truck, we do the cooking so you can join in. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

What you get with us

  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch
  • A menu built around your guests
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests
  • We cover Trench Green and the whole of Reading

Popular choices

Loaded nachos

Tortilla chips with cheese, a filling, salsa and guacamole.

Tacos from the hatch

A taco is ideal food from a truck.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

For planners, venues and organisers

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so where we park matters. Here’s what we look for:

  • Agreement from the venue to bring in a catering vehicle
  • A clear area for a queue at the hatch
  • Some space between the truck and nearby homes

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

The process

On the day, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, so everything runs to your schedule. Late-September events in Trench Green see sunset at about 7:10pm, so a later service will need some lighting. A late-May event keeps its light until roughly 8:55pm.

  1. Tell us the date, the location, rough numbers and any diets.
  2. We check availability and send a menu and a quote for hiring the truck or trailer.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. Your guests order at the hatch and we serve hot food at the agreed times.
  5. After service, we close the hatch, pack down and drive away.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Trench Green questions

Which station should guests use for Trench Green?

Guests can use Tilehurst station, about 1.7 miles south of Trench Green.

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Margaret and Bardolf Aisle: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

How big an event can you cater?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. For anything outside that, ask us.

What access do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

How long are you on site?

We get there well before service to set up. The length of service is agreed when you book, along with pack-down.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

What space does the truck need?

A firm, level spot, a way in that fits the vehicle, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are easy to plan for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll suggest mild options.
