London Docklands questions

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Sir John McDougall Gardens?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

We’re having a ceremony at St Peter's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you do a taco bar?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Read our taco bar guide.

Who handles the licensing?

You’ll need either the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice. We will check the licensing with you. See GOV.UK for Temporary Event Notices.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, gluten-free options are available, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can explain how we prepare their food.

Do you have alcohol-free drinks?

Every bar has alcohol-free choices, from aguas frescas to soft drinks.

How much does Mexican bar hire cost in London Docklands?

The price depends on numbers, menu, service time and where your event is. Send us the details for a quote.

What access do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

How the day works

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, we open the hatch when you are ready, and your guests are served fresh until service ends. Evening drinks in London Docklands stay light until about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so a summer drinks bar can run into the evening in daylight. String lights or lanterns near the hatch make a later bar easier to find.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We go through the licensing with you.
  3. You choose the drinks with us.
  4. Our bar staff serve your guests at the agreed times.
  5. We clear the bar at the end.

How to prepare

  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day

Can I do a taco night myself?

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Contact us for a quote to compare.

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

How it compares

DIY drinks tables are easy but need constant topping up. A staffed bar keeps everything under control. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Why book with us

  • Every guest catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included
  • Menus chosen with you
  • Service planned around your numbers
  • Allergen information for every dish

Take a look at our prices page or our guide to catering costs.

Before you choose a spot

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • A spot away from neighbours’ windows if the bar runs late
  • A premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice in place
  • The venue’s permission for an outside bar

In London Docklands, as everywhere in Greater London, the ULEZ applies and kerb space is limited. Where will the truck or trailer stop? A drive, a courtyard or a suspended bay can all work.

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.
