How the day works

The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. Rain doesn’t normally stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. Summer events in Donnybrook Quarter have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Send us your event details and pitch information.
  2. We send our menu, needs and the documents you ask for.
  3. We arrive and set up at the agreed time.
  4. We serve to order through the event.
  5. We clear and leave the pitch clean.

Organising for someone else?

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

What Mexican street food costs

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Food, drinks or both
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • How many guests we’re serving

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: serving hours, staff, disposables, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we will set out what’s included.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Your menu ideas
  • Expected numbers
  • The date and rough timings
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers

We need only a few details to quote: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, tell us about it on our contact page.

Planning the serving area

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • Firm, level ground or hardstanding
  • Clear information on power, water and waste
  • Trader information and site rules

London streets around Donnybrook Quarter can be narrow and busy, and all of Greater London sits inside the ULEZ. Tell us about loading, permits and any parking suspension when you enquire.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

What we offer

Donnybrook Quarter: your questions answered

Could you bring a taco truck to a school fair in Donnybrook Quarter?

We can, as long as the school agrees and the truck or trailer can reach the pitch. Tell us the date, the site and roughly how many visitors you expect.

Where would you park in Donnybrook Quarter?

That depends on the street. A drive, a courtyard or a bay suspended by the council can all work, so tell us what’s outside your venue. The ULEZ covers all of Greater London.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect, and we’ll keep their options separate.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service typically suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Tell us your numbers.

Do you cover Donnybrook Quarter?

We do. Donnybrook Quarter is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

Is the food very hot?

The food can be kept mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Do you have gluten-free options?

We can, using corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Who books Mexican street food in Donnybrook Quarter?

It is food people already know and want.

Big or small, a truck or trailer works well. Common bookings include:

  • Country shows
  • Hospitality and crew areas
  • Community days
  • Street food and farmers’ markets

Organisers of a summer fête for a church such as St Paul Old Ford could add tacos and burritos alongside the bric-a-brac.

Questions to ask before you book

  • The venue requirements
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • The caterer’s food hygiene rating
  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled

Questions to ask before booking

Is Mexican street food right for your event?

Not every trader covers vegans and coeliacs. We can serve vegan fillings and corn tortillas. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu to match. Even a simple menu can feel generous.
