Falmer questions

Could you serve our guests after a service at The Parish Church of St Lawrence?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can you serve near the sea around Falmer?

Yes, with permission for the spot and firm ground for the truck or trailer. Seafront and beach spots normally need permission, and wind is the main thing to plan for.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will talk licensing through with you.

Can you do gluten-free food?

We can, using corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

Can we have a taco bar at our wedding?

A taco bar works well for a relaxed wedding breakfast. Service is timed around speeches and photos. There’s more in our taco bar guide.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

Please ask us. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you take everything away?

We clear our own area when service is finished. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

About our taco bar hire in Falmer

Our truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Share your headcount and we will size the taco bar to match. Popular choices include a build-your-own taco bar, guacamole and burrito bowls, which works well for wedding evening food and team lunches.

Somewhere as small as Falmer, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If the truck cannot get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, as long as we can unload within a short walk. Guests are served from our truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

Pizza is the usual crowd-pleaser, but a taco bar lets every guest design their own plate. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

What we offer in Falmer

Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Confirm any allergies to us by email
  • Check where our vehicle can unload
  • Ensure guests have somewhere to sit
  • Have anyone with a severe allergy speak to us first

Staff stay at the taco bar to refill bowls and answer questions about fillings and allergens.

Ask us whether a second station would help with big numbers.

For planners, venues and organisers

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We will provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Before you choose a spot

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but a few things matter:

  • A clear route from the vehicle to the serving spot
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before you book.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

What taco bar hire costs

We’ll give you a clear quote. What affects it most:

  • Parking and the route in
  • The menu you choose
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Timings and hours

Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Where the event is

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just fill in our quote form.

Popular choices

Guacamole

No taco bar is complete without guacamole, so we keep it topped up.

Hot fillings

Fillings cooked ahead and kept hot, perhaps chicken tinga, birria or carnitas.

The process

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, tell us and we will adjust the start of service where we can. In Falmer, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Tell us about your event and your guests.
  2. We send a sample spread and a quote.
  3. Access, power and water are agreed beforehand.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. Afterwards, we pack down and leave the area tidy.

How to prepare

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
