Taco bar hire near Iford

How our taco bar hire works in Iford

A taco bar puts the whole spread on one table: warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Guests pick up a plate and build their own. For wedding day food and evening wedding receptions, we can serve slow-cooked fillings kept hot, pickled onions and toppings and guacamole and more.

Near Iford, a marquee or barn makes a good home for a taco bar. We set up the station and our team runs it. Timings are planned around your event, so service starts when you want it.

Should I do it myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Organising for someone else?

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

Where the truck can go in Iford

No two venues are the same, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Shelter from rain and sun for an outdoor bar
  • Details of power and water near the bar
  • Space for a line of guests at the bar

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

Planning a taco bar in Iford

Iford is about 2 miles south of Lewes, in East Sussex. Tell us where your event in Iford will be, and we’ll plan the journey and set-up. Iford is one of 289 towns and villages in East Sussex where we can bring taco bar hire.

After a christening or wedding at a church such as St Pancras Church (Kingston near Lewes), a taco bar at a hall or garden nearby lets guests build their own tacos. Around Iford, historic houses include Monk's House (1.4 miles south-east) and Anne of Cleves House (1.5 miles north-east). Estates and listed houses set their own rules for caterers, so check where a taco bar station and our vehicle would be permitted before you book. The South Downs National Park is within about 2 miles of Iford, with barns and country venues that could host a taco bar. Where vehicles cannot reach the room, the station can be set up there with the venue’s agreement, but we still need to unload close by. With the sea within about 6 miles, a taco bar at a coastal venue is an option. Open toppings and a sea breeze don’t mix, so a sheltered or indoor spot is best.

Anywhere in BN7, we can bring taco bar hire to you. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Kingston near Lewes (1 mile north-west), Northease (1 mile south-east), Rodmell (1 mile south-east), Southover (2 miles north-east) and Lewes (2 miles north). Within a short drive, we also cover Eastbourne (14 miles east), Seaford (7 miles south-east), Hailsham (12 miles east), Uckfield (10 miles north-east), Newhaven (5 miles south-east) and Peacehaven (4 miles south).

Nearby you will also find Lewes Castle (1.7 miles north-east) and Brighton And Hove Albion Football Club Museum (3.3 miles west). Open spaces near Iford include Offham Hill and Southerham Farm.

Your questions about taco bar hire in Iford

We’re having a ceremony at St Pancras Church (Kingston near Lewes): can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Send us the reception address.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared.

Can you cater in a back garden?

Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.

Is the food very hot?

That’s your choice: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately.

What if a vehicle cannot reach the serving spot?

The bar can stand on its own, away from the truck or trailer. We still need somewhere close to unload our vehicle, and the venue has to agree.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

What does taco bar hire cost?

We quote for each event, based on what you actually need. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

What affects the price in Iford

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • What the venue already provides
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many staff you need

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Details that help

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • What power and water the site has
  • Where the event is
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, use our quote form.

The process

When we arrive, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, planned around your event. Evenings in Iford stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. Once it gets dark, guests need to see what they’re adding to their tacos.

  1. Begin with the date and headcount.
  2. We agree a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We fix timings with you and the venue.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. Once service is over, we pack away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because guests can choose what suits them. A few tips:

  • Count children separately
  • Plan the taco bar around speeches and timings
  • Ask the venue where we can park to unload
  • Have anyone with a severe allergy speak to us first

Each dish is labelled, and allergen information is kept at the bar.

Burrito bowls sit well on the bar for anyone avoiding tortillas.
