Taco bar hire in Fernhill, from our truck or trailer

With a taco bar, everything is laid out in one place: tortillas kept warm, fillings kept hot, and bowls of salsa, guacamole and toppings. Guests pick up a plate and build their own. On the menu are warm corn and flour tortillas, slow-cooked fillings kept hot and burrito bowls, and it suits evening wedding receptions and garden parties.

In a hamlet or village like Fernhill, a barn or marquee can shelter a taco bar from the weather. We set up the station and our team runs it; tell us about access and parking. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Planning the serving area

We’ll be honest if a space won’t work, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Cover overhead if the bar is outdoors
  • A flat spot for the taco-bar station
  • Room for guests to queue along the table

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Popular choices

  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Two to four fillings
  • Tortilla chips
  • Vegan fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole

Popular choices

Hot fillings

You might choose two or three fillings. We agree them with you.

Guacamole

No taco bar is complete without guacamole.

Diets, allergies and planning

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests. To get it right:

  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Pick the spot for the taco bar in advance
  • Send us allergy details in writing
  • Tell us how many children are coming

We arrive with time to unload and set the bar up before guests eat.

For larger groups, ask about a second serving point.

Fernhill questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Bartholomew?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

How far is Fernhill from central London?

It’s about 24 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

How long do you serve for?

We arrive in good time to set up before service. Serving times are agreed with you in advance.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can explain how we prepare their food. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

How big an event can you cater?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. Tell us your numbers and we will advise.

Do you need electricity?

It depends on the event and the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there is a supply near where we will park.

Do you cook on site?

Food is cooked to order in our truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

How it compares

Compared with a hog roast or carvery, a taco bar caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free guests from one table. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

Prices and what affects them

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Food, drinks or both
  • The length of service
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery

What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so share your ideas with us. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

What to tell us

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Your menu ideas
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • What power and water the site has

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will make suggestions. When you’re ready, tell us about it on our contact page.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

The process

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A picture of the space helps. Around midsummer it stays light in Fernhill until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, plan good lighting over the station.

  1. Share a few details about the event.
  2. We send a sample spread and a quote.
  3. Access, power and water are agreed beforehand.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. Afterwards, we pack down and leave the area tidy.

Before we arrive
