How our taco bar hire works in Margery

For a bigger spread, burrito bowls, nachos or quesadillas can sit alongside the tacos. Margaritas and aguas frescas from our drinks bar can be added. It suits garden parties and birthday celebrations, serving fresh salsas, pickled onions and toppings and burrito bowls.

Near Margery, a marquee or barn makes a good home for a taco bar. We set up the station and our team runs it. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

How it works

Here’s how the day normally runs: we arrive and set up, service opens at the agreed time, and we serve your guests fresh for the agreed time. Evenings in Margery stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. After dusk, lights over the station help guests build their tacos.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar spread and a quote.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. Our staff set up the station, keep the fillings hot and top up the bar through service.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.

Margery: your questions answered

We’re having a ceremony at Church of Jesus Christ and the Wisdom of God: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you come to events in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Do you clear up afterwards?

Our area is packed away and left tidy. Let us know the venue’s rules on waste and we’ll talk it through.

What happens if it rains?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Is the taco bar staffed?

We run the station ourselves, so you don’t need helpers. We pack it away afterwards.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are easy to plan for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan the menu with them in mind.

Is a taco bar right for a wedding?

It can serve the wedding meal, the evening or both. We agree the timings with your venue.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Working with your venue

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

What affects the price in Margery

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery

Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you choose what goes in.

What to tell us

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • A photo of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Your menu ideas

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send a quick message through our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but there are a few things to check:

  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Space beside the truck or trailer if you are booking both

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Menu ideas

  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Vegan fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Tortilla chips
  • Two to four fillings
  • Corn and flour tortillas

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

Next to a hog roast or carvery, a taco bar caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free guests from one table. Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP
  • Ask the venue where we can park to unload
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar
  • Have tables and seats ready for guests to eat at

Staff stay at the taco bar to refill bowls and answer questions about fillings and allergens.

For larger groups, ask about a second serving point.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.
