Taco bar hire in Portmore, served fresh

Mixed diets are simple at a taco bar, because every filling and topping sits in its own dish. There are vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free choices, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. It works well for working lunches and barn and marquee parties, with warm corn and flour tortillas, a build-your-own taco bar and fresh salsas.

Near Portmore, a taco bar next to the truck in a field or garden works well. Tell us about gates, ground and the distance from the lane, and we confirm power and water arrangements before the day. We serve from the hatch of our truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

How it works

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. Guests come up to order when service opens. In Portmore, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:00pm, plan good lighting over the station.

  1. Contact us with your date and headcount.
  2. We agree a menu that covers every diet.
  3. Nearer the date, we confirm timings and the serving spot.
  4. Service starts when your running order says.
  5. Once service is over, we pack away.

Space, access and the venue

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • A spot next to the truck or trailer when both are booked
  • Room for guests to queue along the table
  • Power and water, which we confirm when you book

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

Menu ideas

  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Vegan fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Tortilla chips
  • Two to four fillings

Organising for someone else?

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

Throwing a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about access, and we will let you know if it is a good fit.

Dietary needs and planning tips

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Ensure one filling is vegan
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP
  • Have anyone with a severe allergy speak to us first

Indoors or under cover, the bar carries on whatever the weather, so plan somewhere sheltered if you can.

Book our drinks bar with the taco bar for margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with licensing checked with you.

Choosing a Mexican caterer

Portmore: your questions answered

Which station should guests use for Portmore?

Guests can use Lymington Town station, about 1.1 miles south-west of Portmore.

Do you set up taco bars indoors in places like Portmore?

Yes, with the venue’s permission. We need a short route from where we park to the room, and space for the station and a queue.

What if the weather’s bad?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It is worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Truck and trailer service typically suits around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you cook on site?

We cook to order in our food truck or trailer kitchen, or serve from a taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will talk licensing through with you.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are easy to plan for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll suggest mild options.

What do you need at the venue?

Tell us about the venue and the spot you have in mind, and we will check it works. We also need the venue’s permission.
