Taco bar hire in River, served fresh

For a bigger spread, burrito bowls, nachos or quesadillas can sit alongside the tacos. Margaritas and aguas frescas from our drinks bar can be added. At team lunches and company parties, we’ll put together a menu of pickled onions and toppings, burrito bowls and guacamole and more.

In and around River, a taco bar works beside the truck or in a hall nearby. If the truck cannot reach the garden, we park as close as we can and set the station up where your guests are. We serve from the hatch of our food truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan the service around your numbers.

What happens on the day

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, let us know and we’ll adjust where we can. A December taco bar in River will be in the dark from about 3:50pm, so an indoor spot or a well-lit station works best. In late June, the light holds until around 9:15pm.

  1. Start with the essentials: the date, venue, headcount and diets.
  2. We suggest fillings, salsas and toppings for the bar and send a quote.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Find out what power and water are available
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely

What we need at the venue

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A short, clear path for carrying the bar in
  • A level area for the taco-bar table
  • A parking or loading spot near the serving area

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Common questions in River

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Old Park Hill?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

What if a vehicle cannot reach the serving spot?

The taco bar can be served from a table or station away from the truck. We still need to park our vehicle nearby to unload, and the venue’s agreement.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

What space does a taco bar need?

A level spot for the serving table, room to queue and somewhere close to unload our vehicle. We confirm power and water when you book.

How much is a taco bar?

There’s no price list, because no two events are the same. Send us your details and we will quote for your event. See what Mexican catering costs for background.

How big an event can you cater?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. Tell us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can talk through how their food is prepared.

Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

A build-your-own taco bar in River

River is about 1 mile north-west of Dover, in Kent. Tell us where your event in River will be, and we’ll plan access and set-up. River is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we can bring taco bar hire. You can also see our page for Canterbury, about 13 miles away.

Thinking of a taco bar in Old Park Hill? Catering in a public park typically needs the landowner’s permission, so check first. When the service is at a church such as Church of St Peter, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church. Venues in and around the Kent Downs National Landscape, within about 8 miles of River, sometimes have strict rules about catering and vehicles. Check with yours where a taco bar station and our food truck or trailer could go. River is within about 3 miles of the sea, so for a seaside taco bar we plan around the wind. A sheltered spot for the station helps, and seafront sites generally need permission.

We serve at events all over CT17 and CT16. Whether your event is on Lower Road, Minnis Lane and London Road or anywhere nearby, we can bring taco bar hire there, given access. If your venue is just outside River, we also cover Kearsney (1 mile north-west), Temple Ewell (1 mile north-west), Dover (1 mile south-east), Whitfield (1 mile north-east) and Maxton (2 miles south). Nearby you’ll also find Crabble Corn Mill (under half a mile south-east) and Dover Castle (2.2 miles south-east). Not far away are Dover Western Heights.

What affects the price in River

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Guest numbers
  • The length of service
  • How many staff you need

Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Expected numbers
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground

Send us the date, your venue or CT17 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and you’ll get menu ideas and a price. Just fill in our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because guests can choose what suits them. A few tips:

  • Include a vegan filling on the bar
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP
  • Put allergies in writing for us

After the last plate, we take the bar down and leave the spot tidy.

Extra salsas, from mild to hot, let guests choose their own heat.

For event organisers in River

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Why choose taco bar hire in River?

Plated meals depend on a kitchen and a team of waiting staff. A taco bar needs a serving spot, somewhere close to unload and the venue’s agreement, with power and water confirmed when you book. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.
