Before you choose a spot

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Cover overhead if the bar is outdoors
  • Permission from the venue for us to set up
  • A level area for the taco-bar table

For somewhere as remote as Carisbrooke, early notice helps us plan the trip, the route in and power.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

How our taco bar hire works in Carisbrooke

Toppings make the bar: pickled onions, coriander, lime, shredded lettuce and cheese. It suits retirement parties and garden parties, serving pickled onions and toppings, guacamole and burrito bowls.

For a place the size of Carisbrooke, a garden or a hall nearby can suit a taco bar. We set up and run the station, and guests choose their own fillings and toppings. Let us know about the drive and parking. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Ask guests about diets and allergies on the RSVP
  • Flag any guest with coeliac disease
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Pick the spot for the taco bar in advance

If the schedule slips, tell us and we will hold everything hot until you are ready.

Nachos to share can keep guests going before the bar opens.

Step by step

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. Planning an evening taco bar in Carisbrooke? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:10pm in late September. After dusk, lights over the station help guests build their tacos.

  1. Share a few details about the event.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar menu and a quote.
  3. We check power, water and access with your venue.
  4. We arrive, unload and lay out warm tortillas, fillings and toppings.
  5. Afterwards, we pack down and leave the area tidy.

Preparing for the day

Planning help

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Guest numbers
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Timings and hours

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

What to tell us

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The address or venue name

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

Taco bars for events around Carisbrooke

Carisbrooke is about 1 mile south-west of Newport, in the Isle of Wight. Give us the address of your event in Carisbrooke, and we’ll plan the journey and set-up before the day. Carisbrooke is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover. We cater right across the region, from Carisbrooke to Portsmouth (about 13 miles away).

Before you plan a taco bar in Seaclose Park, find out who manages it, as catering and unloading there both need their agreement. If you are celebrating after a service at a church like St. Mary's Church, a hall close by could host a staffed taco bar, with the venue’s permission. With the sea within about 5 miles, a taco bar at a coastal venue is an option. Open toppings and a sea breeze don’t mix, so a sheltered or indoor spot is best.

Anywhere in PO30, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. From Down Lane, Purdy Road and Castle Lane or anywhere nearby, we can bring taco bar hire there, given access. Other places close to Carisbrooke for taco bar hire include Clatterford (1 mile south), Gunville (1 mile north), Plaish (1 mile south-west), Bowcombe (1 mile south-west) and Gatcombe (2 miles south). We also cater in nearby towns such as Ryde (7 miles east), Cowes (5 miles north), Sandown (7 miles east), Shanklin (7 miles south-east), Ventnor (8 miles south-east) and East Cowes (5 miles north). If your event is somewhere remote, let us know early and we will plan the trip and the route in for the truck or trailer.

Other landmarks nearby include Isle of Wight Music Museum (1.1 miles north-east) and Carisbrooke Castle (under half a mile south-east). Not far away are Briddlesford Nature Reserve and Brighstone Down.

  • Local schools include Christ The King College (less than half a mile north-east) and Island Innovation VI Form Campus (1.1 miles east)
  • Pubs nearby include The Waverley pub (within half a mile east)

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

A standard buffet often sits out cold. We keep the fillings hot and refill the dishes through service. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re booking for a business, tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Questions from Carisbrooke

Can you cater a reception after a service at St. Mary's Church?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Seaclose Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Check with them, and we will provide what they ask for from us.

Do you cover Carisbrooke?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, and Carisbrooke is within our area and the rest of the Isle of Wight. To check your date, send a quick message through our quote form.

Is the taco bar staffed?

We run the station ourselves, so your hosts do not need to. We pack it away afterwards.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.

What is a build-your-own taco bar?

Each guest builds tacos from the fillings, salsas and toppings laid out. We run the bar from set-up to pack-down.

Does the taco bar need the truck on site?

The taco bar can be served from a table or station away from the truck. We still need somewhere close to unload our vehicle, and the venue has to agree.

How spicy is the food?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.
