Taco bar hire in Hermitage, from our food truck or trailer

Our truck and trailer service typically suits around 50 to 400 guests, while smaller parties are quoted case by case. Share your headcount and we’ll size the taco bar to match. For evening receptions and wedding breakfasts, we’ll put together a menu of warm corn and flour tortillas, guacamole and pickled onions and toppings and more.

Near Hermitage, a taco bar next to the truck in a field or garden works well. Tell us about gates, ground and the distance from the lane, and we will confirm power and water with you. You will know what’s included before booking: menu, timings and any add-ons.

What happens on the day

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, let us know and we will adjust where we can. Evenings in Hermitage stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm. Once it gets dark, guests need to see what they’re adding to their tacos.

  1. Begin with the date and headcount.
  2. We agree a menu that covers every diet.
  3. Nearer the date, we confirm timings and the serving spot.
  4. Service starts when your running order says.
  5. We clear our station when service ends.

Common questions in Hermitage

Which station is closest to Hermitage?

Guests can use Newbury Racecourse station, about 4 miles south of Hermitage.

Can the taco bar go in a local hall rather than outside?

Yes, with the venue’s permission. Tell us about the parking, the doors and the space for the station.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Send us a picture of the access and the space.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you come to Hermitage?

We do. Hermitage is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

Is the food very hot?

It’s up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

What happens if it rains?

Rain does not typically stop service from the truck or trailer. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service usually suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Send us your numbers and we will advise.

Events we cater in Hermitage

It gets people talking: guests compare fillings and swap topping ideas as they go.

In Hermitage and nearby, we can cater all sorts of events. Some of the most common are:

  • Milestone birthdays
  • Wedding meals
  • Back-garden gatherings
  • Office lunches

Historic houses near Hermitage include Shaw House (3.4 miles south-west). Historic venues often limit where vehicles can go, so ask whether a taco bar station could be set up inside while our truck or trailer parks further off.

Choosing a Mexican caterer

Diets, allergies and planning

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because options can be kept separate. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Send us allergy details in writing
  • Ensure one filling is vegan
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Have anyone with a severe allergy speak to us first

Fillings are kept hot and tortillas warmed in batches, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

Tell us if you need plates and cutlery and we will set out the options in your quote.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

What affects the price in Hermitage

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • The number of people
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Timings and hours
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

What to tell us

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • The venue or postcode
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Expected numbers

We need only a few details to quote: date, location, guest numbers and diets. Contact us for a quote: just tell us about it on our contact page.

What’s on the menu

Salsas

Salsa lets everyone pick their own heat.

Guacamole

No taco bar is complete without guacamole, so we keep it topped up.

Planning a taco bar in Hermitage

Hermitage is about 4 miles north of Thatcham, in West Berkshire. We serve at events in homes, gardens and venues in Hermitage and the surrounding area. Hermitage is one of 155 places in West Berkshire we cover. We cater right across the region, from Hermitage to Reading (13 miles away).

If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like Holy Trinity, a hall close by could host a staffed taco bar, with the venue’s permission. If people are travelling in by rail, Newbury Racecourse station is about 4 miles away. Venues in and around the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, within about 6 miles of Hermitage, sometimes have strict rules about catering and vehicles. Check with yours where a taco bar station and our truck or trailer could go.

We serve at events all over the RG18 postcode area and the streets around it. That could mean an event at a home with a drive on Newbury Road, Lipscomb Close and Marlston Road. If your venue is just outside Hermitage, we also cover Longlane (1 mile south-west), Little Hungerford (1 mile north-east), Oare (1 mile north), Wellhouse (1 mile east) and Curridge (1 mile south-west). Comparing your options

A taco bar and a truck serve the same food in different ways. At the hatch, we make each order; at the taco bar, guests do the building. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed in your quote.
