Taco bar hire for Steel Cross events

How our taco bar hire works in Steel Cross

We bring taco bars to events in and around Steel Cross: from barns and marquees to gardens, halls and offices. On the menu are warm corn and flour tortillas, guacamole and burrito bowls, and it suits anniversary parties and wedding day food.

For a rural spot like Steel Cross, a taco bar beside the truck in a field or garden is a simple set-up. Let us know about the gate, the ground and the route in, and we confirm power and water arrangements before the day. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How long we’re needed on site
  • The menu you choose
  • Guest numbers
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • The date and time of the event
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground

It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll come back with a clear quote.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

The process

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered. Evenings in Steel Cross stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. After dusk, lights over the station help guests build their tacos.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan the fillings, salsas and toppings with you.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. On the day, guests help themselves while we keep the bar stocked.
  5. When everyone has eaten, we pack up.

Getting ready for the day

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Give us a contact for the day

Ask for a quote

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, food or drinks or both, and the access. When you are ready, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

You can also see our page for Royal Tunbridge Wells, about 6 miles away.

If people are travelling in by rail, Crowborough station is about 1.2 miles away. If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like The Parish Church of All Saints, a hall close by could host a staffed taco bar, with the venue’s permission. The High Weald National Landscape is within about 5 miles of Steel Cross, with barns and country venues that could host a taco bar. Where vehicles cannot reach the room, the station can be set up there with the venue’s agreement, but we still need to unload close by.

Questions to ask before you book

Comparing your options

Plated meals depend on a kitchen and a team of waiting staff. A taco bar needs a serving spot, somewhere close to unload and the venue’s agreement, and power and water are confirmed with each booking. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What you get with us

  • A menu agreed with you
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you

  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch

Planning the serving area

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We look for:

  • Room nearby to park and unload our vehicle
  • Cover overhead if the bar is outdoors
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

Common questions in Steel Cross

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Will you travel to a small place like Steel Cross?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings.

Who clears up?

We clear our own area when service is finished. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

Can you run a bar?

Yes. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We’ll check the licensing for alcohol with you.

Is the food suitable for children?

Of course. Mild dishes, quesadillas and nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.
