Taco bar hire in Tillington, from our food truck or trailer

You choose the fillings with us, perhaps carnitas, chicken tinga or birria, plus a vegan choice such as spiced mushroom or black bean and sweet potato. We serve a build-your-own taco bar, guacamole and warm corn and flour tortillas, and it’s a good fit for summer garden parties and milestone birthdays.

In a small place like Tillington, a taco bar might go in a garden, a barn or a nearby hall. If the truck can’t get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so there are no surprises on arrival.

What happens on the day

Once service is over, we pack down and clear our own area. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. A December taco bar in Tillington will be in the dark from about 4:00pm, so an indoor spot or a well-lit station works best. In late June, the light holds until around 9:20pm.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar spread and a quote.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.

Before we arrive

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Decide where the table goes before the day
  • Collect dietary needs with your replies
  • Fit the bar into your running order
  • Include a vegan filling on the bar

Dishes are labelled, with allergen information available at the table.

Add burrito bowls for guests who’d rather skip tortillas.

Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Tillington: your questions answered

Will you travel to a small place like Tillington?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

We are having a ceremony at The Parish Church of All Hallows: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.

What access do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. Send us a photo and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

We confirm that with your quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we’ll talk it through.

Can you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, like a marquee or gazebo.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you stay to run the taco bar?

We run the station ourselves, so your hosts don’t need to. We pack it away afterwards.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Prices and what affects them

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • How many staff you need
  • Timings and hours
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
