Taco bar hire for Whitsbury events

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

How our taco bar hire works in Whitsbury

With a taco bar, everything is laid out in one place: tortillas kept warm, fillings kept hot, and bowls of salsa, guacamole and toppings. Each guest takes a plate and fills it their way. For back-garden gatherings and birthday celebrations, we can serve fresh salsas, pickled onions and toppings and slow-cooked fillings kept hot.

Somewhere as small as Whitsbury, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, as long as we can unload within a short walk. Your quote sets out what’s included: menu, timings and any add-ons.

Your questions about taco bar hire in Whitsbury

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Leonard?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Can the taco bar go in a local hall rather than outside?

We can, as long as the venue agrees. The station needs room for a queue, and we need to park and unload close to the door.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Is the food made fresh?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

How do you handle dietary needs at the taco bar?

We plan gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan choices, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Every dish has allergen information.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings could include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. Our sample menu has more ideas.

How much is a taco bar?

We don’t publish set prices, as each booking is different. Send us your details and we will quote for your event. Our guide to Mexican catering costs may help.

How it works

Serving is quick: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so even a long queue moves. When service ends, we pack down. Around midsummer it stays light in Whitsbury until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:05pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with your date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We plan the fillings, salsas and toppings with you.
  3. The venue confirms where the bar goes and where we park.
  4. On the day, guests help themselves while we keep the bar stocked.
  5. We clear the bar away after service.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park

Questions to ask before you book

Taco bar hire or something else?

Plated meals depend on a kitchen and a team of waiting staff. A taco bar needs a serving spot, somewhere close to unload and the venue’s agreement, with power and water confirmed when you book. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.
