Taco bar hire for Wooden Hill events

Taco bar hire in Wooden Hill, served fresh

You choose the fillings with us, perhaps carnitas, chicken tinga or birria, plus a vegan choice such as spiced mushroom or black bean and sweet potato. It suits engagement and anniversary parties and evening receptions, with guacamole, a build-your-own taco bar and warm corn and flour tortillas.

In a hamlet or village like Wooden Hill, a barn or marquee can shelter a taco bar from the weather. We set up the station and our team runs it; tell us about access and parking. Prices and what affects them

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • How many staff you need
  • The length of service
  • The number of people
  • The menu you choose

What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so share your ideas with us. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

What to tell us

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Expected numbers
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Where the event is
  • A photo of the space, if it’s a garden or field

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just use our quote form.

How the day works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we’ll help you choose a spot with room for a queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered. Around midsummer it stays light in Wooden Hill until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Send us your date, where the taco bar will go, numbers and dietary needs.
  2. We suggest fillings, salsas and toppings for the bar and send a quote.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. Once guests have eaten, we take down the bar and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready

Planning help

Common questions in Wooden Hill

Do you come out to small places like Wooden Hill?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Could you set up a taco bar in a hall near Wooden Hill?

Yes, if the venue allows outside caterers. Tell us about the parking, the doors and the space for the station.

Can you cater in a back garden?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes.

What is a build-your-own taco bar?

Guests take a plate and fill their tortillas from the dishes on the bar. We run the bar from set-up to pack-down.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. Tell us your numbers and we will advise.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Is the food suitable for children?

Yes, children are easy to plan for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan the menu with them in mind.

How soon do we need to book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates go first, so it pays to ask early.

Before you choose a spot

We serve from a truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Space beside the truck or trailer if you’re booking both
  • A clear route from the vehicle to the serving spot
  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What we offer

  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Tortilla chips
  • Vegan fillings
  • Pickled onions and toppings
  • Two to four fillings

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Our caterer checklist

Can I do a taco night myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
