Taco bar hire for Alverstone Garden Village events

About our taco bar hire in Alverstone Garden Village

The taco bar works for a wedding breakfast, a party or a working lunch. Guests build their plates quickly, so a crowd moves through steadily. At working lunches and garden parties, we will put together a menu of slow-cooked fillings kept hot, warm corn and flour tortillas and burrito bowls and more.

In a small place like Alverstone Garden Village, a taco bar might go in a garden, a barn or a nearby hall. If the truck can’t get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. We cater for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Step by step

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our food truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. In Alverstone Garden Village, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Begin with the date and headcount.
  2. We plan fillings and toppings around your guests’ diets.
  3. We fix timings with you and the venue.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. Once service is over, we pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers

Taco bar hire or something else?

Next to a hog roast or carvery, a taco bar caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free guests from one table. Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why book with us

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Allergen information for everything we serve
  • A menu agreed with you
  • Served fresh from our truck or trailer

Organising for someone else?

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Organising a club, school or community event in Alverstone Garden Village? A truck or trailer serves a crowd quickly, with options for most diets. Tell us about the event and we will suggest a menu.

How we price taco bar hire

We quote for your event, which reflects:

  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • How many staff you need
  • Parking and the route in
  • Your choice of food and drinks

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • The date and time of the event
  • A photo of the space, if it’s a garden or field

Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we’re available that day.

Alverstone Garden Village: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Alverstone Garden Village?

Sandown station, about 1.3 miles south-east of the centre.

Do you set up taco bars indoors in places like Alverstone Garden Village?

We can, as long as the venue agrees. The station needs room for a queue, and we need to park and unload close to the door.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

What if a vehicle cannot reach the serving spot?

The taco bar can sit next to the truck or trailer, or in a spot of its own. Either way, we need to unload nearby and have the venue’s permission.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

How much does taco bar hire cost?

There’s no price list, because no two events are the same. Send us your details and we’ll quote for your event. Our guide to Mexican catering costs may help.

Do you need power and water?

Let us know what’s available on site, for example a supply from the venue, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

Is a taco bar right for a wedding?

The taco bar can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. Timings are agreed with you and your venue, and guests build their own plates.

Planning for every diet

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Ask guests with severe allergies to contact us before the day
  • Check where our vehicle can unload
  • Flag any guest with coeliac disease
  • Choose at least one vegan filling

A covered spot keeps the bar and guests dry if it rains.

Loaded nachos make a good starter while the bar is set up.

Alverstone Garden Village is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover. We cater right across the region, from Alverstone Garden Village to Portsmouth (11 miles away).

By rail: the nearest station is Sandown station, about 1.3 miles south-east. Guests leaving a church like All Saints' Church could head to a nearby hall or garden where the taco bar is ready. With the sea within about 2 miles, a taco bar at a coastal venue is an option. Open toppings and a sea breeze don’t mix, so a sheltered or indoor spot is best.

We cover events in every part of the PO36 postcode area. Whether your event is on Youngwoods Way, Youngwoods Copse and Hollowood Road or a nearby road, we can bring taco bar hire there, given access. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Alverstone (1 mile south-east), Queen's Bower (1 mile south-west), Skinner's Hill (1 mile south-west), Adgestone (1 mile north-east) and Lake (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cater in Newport (5 miles north-west), Ryde (4 miles north), Cowes (8 miles north-west), Ventnor (5 miles south), East Cowes (7 miles north-west) and Oakfield (4 miles north). How to compare caterers

The menu, item by item

Vegan fillings

Black bean and sweet potato, or spiced mushrooms, cooked separately.

Warm tortillas

Soft corn and flour tortillas, kept warm so there’s always one ready. Corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
