Taco bar hire in Freshwater: local tips

Freshwater is about 5 miles south of Lymington, in the Isle of Wight. Events in Freshwater are planned around your venue and timings: a quote, a plan and friendly service on the day. Freshwater is one of 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight we cover. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Freshwater to Southampton (17 miles away).

When the service is at a church such as All Saints' Church, the taco bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church. Historic houses near Freshwater include Mottistone Manor (4.6 miles south-east). Estates and listed houses set their own rules for caterers, so check where a taco bar station and our vehicle would be permitted before booking. With the sea within about a mile, a taco bar at a coastal venue is an option. Open toppings and a sea breeze do not mix, so a sheltered or indoor spot is best.

We cater events across the PO40 postcode area and the streets around it. We can cater an event on streets such as Dall Square, High Street and The Square or the roads around them. We also serve at events in Easton (1 mile south-east), Colwell (1 mile north-west), Norton Green (1 mile north), Afton (1 mile south-east) and Totland (1 mile west). Larger places within reach include Newport (10 miles east), Cowes (11 miles north-east), Shanklin (15 miles east), Ventnor (15 miles south-east), East Cowes (12 miles north-east) and Barton (10 miles east). If your event is somewhere remote, tell us early so we can plan the journey, access and power.

Nearby you’ll also find Yarmouth Castle (1.9 miles north-east) and Ferguson Family Museum (0.7 miles north-east). Open spaces near Freshwater include Lymington and Keyhaven Marshes Nature Reserve and Afton Down.

  • Pubs nearby include The Red Lion pub (0.5 miles east)
  • Local facilities include Medina (0.8 miles west)

Taco bar hire for your event in Freshwater

Our staff set up the taco bar and look after it through service: warming tortillas, keeping fillings hot and refilling the salsas as they go. Your hosts can stay with their guests. For milestone birthdays and staff parties, we will put together a menu of pickled onions and toppings, burrito bowls and a build-your-own taco bar for your guests.

A place like Freshwater may have a hall or a club nearby if your garden is small; the station needs a level surface, the venue’s permission and somewhere to unload. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Working with your venue

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Freshwater? A truck or trailer serves a crowd quickly, with options for most diets. Give us the details and we will suggest a plan.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

How the day works

When service finishes, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. Evenings in Freshwater stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm. Once it gets dark, guests need to see what they’re adding to their tacos.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. We plan the fillings and toppings with you and quote for them.
  3. We agree where the table goes and where our vehicle can unload.
  4. We set out warm tortillas, hot fillings, salsas and toppings, and guests help themselves.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.

Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • The venue’s or landowner’s agreement
  • Space for a serving table on level ground
  • Room for guests to queue along the table

Out-of-the-way places like Freshwater take a little more planning, so let us know about tracks, gates and power in good time.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

Menu ideas

  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn and flour tortillas

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Catering for every guest

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Flag any guest with coeliac disease
  • Make sure guests have somewhere to sit
  • Include a dietary question on your invitations
  • Put allergies in writing for us

We get there early enough to unload, lay out the table and heat everything through.

A wider range of salsas suits guests who like it mild and those who like it hot.

Events we cater in Freshwater

It looks generous: bright salsas, fresh guacamole and bowls of toppings in a row.

If you are planning any of these, we can help:

  • Team lunches
  • Evening receptions
  • Staff parties
  • Retirement parties

If your garden is hard to reach, a hired hall or club around Freshwater could take the taco bar instead.

What your quote should include

  • A clear list of what’s included
  • Where to see their hygiene rating
  • When final numbers are due
  • Whether VAT is included

Your questions about taco bar hire in Freshwater

Can you cater a reception after a service at All Saints' Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can you serve near the sea around Freshwater?

We can, given firm ground and the landowner’s permission. Beaches and promenades usually need the council’s agreement, so check that first.

How do you handle dietary needs at the taco bar?

Fillings and toppings sit in separate dishes, which helps with mixed diets, but we can’t promise an allergen-free kitchen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us first.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Can guests build tacos at a wedding breakfast?

The taco bar can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. We agree the timings with your venue.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Of course. We can include vegetarian and vegan fillings like black beans or spiced mushrooms, served alongside the meat options.

How much is a food truck for an event?

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Do you do a taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we’ll recommend how to serve.

How we price taco bar hire

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • The length of service
  • How many staff you need
  • Travel, parking and access
  • What the venue already provides

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The venue or postcode
  • What power and water the site has
  • Expected numbers
  • How we drive in and where we can park

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, send a quick message through our quote form.
