Why choose taco bar hire in Waltham St Lawrence?

The difference between a taco bar and truck service is who builds the taco. At the hatch, we make each order; at the bar, guests build their own. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

Taco bar hire for your event in Waltham St Lawrence

Toppings make the bar: lime wedges, coriander, pickled onions, cheese and crema, depending on the menu you choose. At wedding meals and engagement and anniversary parties, we can serve guacamole, fresh salsas and pickled onions and toppings for your guests.

Somewhere as small as Waltham St Lawrence, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If the truck cannot get close, we can set the station up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. You can book food, drinks or both, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

Organising for someone else?

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

Step by step

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. Around midsummer it stays light in Waltham St Lawrence until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer taco bar outside normally runs in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so guests will need light to see the fillings and toppings.

  1. Start with your date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. Together we choose what goes on the bar.
  3. We confirm the table spot and where we’ll unload.
  4. On the day, guests help themselves while we keep the bar stocked.
  5. When everyone has eaten, we pack up.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

Waltham St Lawrence: your questions answered

Is Waltham St Lawrence close to London?

Roughly 31 miles from the centre of London.

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Lawrence: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can you set up where a truck cannot get in?

It can go beside the truck or trailer, or somewhere a vehicle can’t reach. Either way, we need to unload nearby and have the venue’s permission.

What do you need at the venue?

Tell us about the venue and the spot you have in mind, and we’ll check it works. We also need the venue’s permission.

What access do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

What does taco bar hire cost?

The price depends on numbers, menu, service time and where your event is. Send us the details for a quote.

Are plates and napkins included?

We confirm that with your quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables.

Is a taco bar right for a wedding?

A taco bar makes a relaxed, sociable wedding meal. Service is timed around speeches and photos. Read our taco bar guide for ideas.

Planning the serving area

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A clear area in front of the station
  • A spot next to the truck or trailer when both are booked
  • Easy access from where we unload to the table

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

On the menu in Waltham St Lawrence

  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Tortilla chips
  • Two to four fillings
  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Vegan fillings
  • Pickled onions and toppings

Can I do a taco night myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Pick the spot for the taco bar in advance
  • Make sure one filling is vegan
  • Set out seating near the bar
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

We warm tortillas in batches and keep the fillings hot, so the bar stays fresh from the first plate to the last.

Nachos to share can keep guests going before the bar opens.

How we price taco bar hire

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • The menu you choose
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Whether you need disposables

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.
