Taco bar hire for your event in Ruscombe

With a taco bar, everything is laid out in one place: tortillas kept warm, fillings kept hot, and bowls of salsa, guacamole and toppings. Each guest takes a plate and fills it their way. It suits birthday parties and team socials, serving pickled onions and toppings, guacamole and slow-cooked fillings kept hot.

Somewhere as small as Ruscombe, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, though we still need to unload within a short walk. You can book food, drinks or both, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

Salsas

A row of salsas, mild to hot, made for your event.

Vegan fillings

Spiced mushroom, or black bean and sweet potato.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

The difference between a taco bar and truck service is who builds the taco. From the truck, we put each order together; at the bar, guests build their own. Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

What you get with us

  • Served fresh from our truck or trailer
  • Service planned around your numbers
  • Events in Ruscombe and across Wokingham
  • A clear quote

See our prices page or our guide to catering costs.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How many staff you need
  • What the venue already provides
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • The menu you choose

Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • A picture of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Where the event is

Send us the date, your venue or RG10 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just fill in our quote form.

Ruscombe: venues, access and set-up

Ruscombe is about 3 miles north-east of Woodley, in Wokingham. Give us the address of your event in Ruscombe, and we’ll plan access and set-up. Ruscombe is one of 35 towns and villages in Wokingham we cover. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Ruscombe to Reading (about 6 miles away).

Parks such as Loddon Nature Reserve typically need the owner’s agreement for catering, even without a truck on the grass, so ask before you plan. If people are travelling in by rail, Twyford station is about 0.5 miles away.

This part of Wokingham takes in RG10, and we can cater your event anywhere in it with access for the truck or trailer. Local streets include London Road, Milton Way and Highgrove Place; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. Ruscombe is on the A3032, which makes it straightforward to bring the truck or trailer. For events just outside Ruscombe, we cover Twyford (1 mile south-west), Hare Hatch (1 mile north-east), Charvil (1 mile west), Whistley Green (1 mile south) and The Holt (2 miles north-east). We also cater in nearby towns such as Reading (6 miles south-west), Wokingham (5 miles south), Woodley (3 miles south-west), Earley (5 miles south-west), Crowthorne (8 miles south) and Lower Earley (5 miles south-west).

Nearby you will also find Royal Berkshire Hospital (4.9 miles south-west) and Frazer Nash Archives (3.7 miles north-west). The countryside around Ruscombe includes Alder Moors and Weycock Hill.

  • Nearby schools include Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School (0.9 miles north-west) and The Piggott School (0.9 miles north-west)
  • Nearby, you will find The Golden Cross pub (under half a mile south-west)

For planners, venues and organisers

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

How it works

We get there well before you want to serve, then set up and prepare everything. Guests come up to order when service opens. Daylight in Ruscombe runs to about 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. If the taco bar is outdoors and runs later, tell us what lighting the venue has.

  1. Begin with the date and headcount.
  2. We agree a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We fix timings with you and the venue.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. We clear our station when service ends.

How to prepare

  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park

Ruscombe: your questions answered

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St James: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Do you come out to small places like Ruscombe?

Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Do you have options for kids?

Of course. Mild dishes, quesadillas and nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

Can we have a taco bar at our wedding?

The taco bar can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. Timings are agreed with you and your venue.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Can you cater in a back garden?

It depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.

Is a taco bar suitable for a big group?

It depends on the event and the timings. As a guide, our bookings typically fall around 50 to 400 guests, so tell us your numbers.

How does taco bar hire work?

Guests take a plate and fill their tortillas from the dishes on the bar. We run the bar from set-up to pack-down.

Who books taco bar hire in Ruscombe?

Guests on special diets do not need a separate meal.

We cater all kinds of occasions in Ruscombe and nearby. Some of the most common are:

  • Office lunches
  • Milestone birthdays
  • Evening wedding receptions
  • Wedding meals

If you are celebrating after a service at a church like Church of St James, a hall close by could host a staffed taco bar, with the venue’s permission.

What to look for in a quote

  • Exactly what’s included in the price
