Taco bar hire for Meads events

Taco bar hire for your event in Meads

A taco bar puts the whole spread on one table: tortillas kept warm, fillings kept hot, and bowls of salsa, guacamole and toppings. Each guest takes a plate and fills it their way. It works well for working lunches and back-garden gatherings, serving guacamole, burrito bowls and pickled onions and toppings.

Near Meads, a hall or club may suit a taco bar if your own space is tight; the station needs a level surface, the venue’s permission and somewhere to unload. Guests are served from our food truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan the service around your numbers.

Step by step

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, let us know and we’ll adjust where we can. Winter evenings in Meads close in by about 3:55pm, so an indoor spot or a well-lit station works best. At midsummer, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send us your date, where the taco bar will go, numbers and dietary needs.
  2. We plan the fillings and toppings with you and quote for them.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. On the day our staff lay out the bar and keep it stocked while guests build their tacos.
  5. When service finishes, we clear the table and pack the vehicle.

Catering for every guest

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:

  • Include a dietary question on your invitations
  • Have tables and seats ready for guests to eat at
  • Tell us when guests should eat
  • Choose at least one vegan filling

We get there early enough to unload, lay out the table and heat everything through.

Nachos to share can keep guests going before the bar opens.

  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Your choice of food and drinks

What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

The menu, item by item

Warm tortillas

Tortillas are the base of the bar. We keep a steady supply going through service.

Guacamole

Guacamole goes quickly on a taco bar, so we keep it topped up.

Meads: your questions answered

Is it possible to have you in Gildrege Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

Do you cater at coastal events near Meads?

Yes, as long as the site allows it and the ground is firm. Seafront and beach spots normally need permission, and wind is the main thing to plan for.

Can you plan for allergies?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, with allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we cannot promise a dish is allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Do you come to Meads?

Yes, we do. We serve at events in Meads and across East Sussex. Send us your date to check availability.

What about power on site?

That depends on the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there is a supply near where we will park.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Can you do gluten-free food?

We can, using corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Is a taco bar good for vegans and gluten-free guests?

There are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan choices, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. Every dish has allergen information.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Taco bar hire or something else?

Sandwich platters are convenient but forgettable. Warm tortillas and hot fillings give a lunch more to talk about. Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you choose what goes in.
